Sounds like good reasoning, that. Like after you eat, more blood goes to the tummy than the brain so you feel sluggish sleepy.

I experienced something similar to Mark Taylor. Time slowed, I felt and saw as if in slow motion, and for me sound also vanished as well as vision going black and white. And I couldn't do anything but be a passenger in my body. Bizarre thing, our brain.

Much as I liked Postlethwaite, I would have rather they went younger, possibly beginning from the John Keel moment which would also give us an up and coming Vetinari too. Follow the two through the years and practically see a huge swathe of the Discworld people/events in the process.

Something like SUPERMAN or DOCTOR WHO on the otherhand, just looks daft if you try and do it as grim and gritty or realistic; it always has to be treated with a mythical touch.

I don't know - take away the phone box and you could do quite a realistic take. But then it won't be Who without the phone box, the fans cry, and I can well see sometime in the future this exact clash when 'remake Who' enters the minds of TV execs again. As for grim and gritty, they manage that fairly well already sometimes.

Man on a Ledge, 2012.

Sam Worthington. Had no idea it was him I was watching until the credits. Looks very different to when he was in Terminator Salvation; he was a lean machine then, now, squat came to mind. Maybe it was my TV at fault? The movie itself wasn't bad, but it all felt old, tired. A bit like Ed Harris who looked very gaunt.

Tower Heist, 2011.

I love Ben Stiller. I remember loving Eddie Murphy during his Beverly Hills Cops days and the last few years, I've been dying to love him again. And this had Alan Alda too! MASH4EVA! So I wished to love this movie. Unfortunately, it's quite a strangely unlovable one. Strangely un-actiony and unfunny for an action comedy too. Disappointing.

Thanks, Crave. Olivia's lovely but the interviewer? Wee bit too much Red Bull.

Forum girl, karlurbaninternational, has gathered quite a bit of stuff on her website - http://karlurbaninternational.foros.ws/f10/articles-amp-interviews/

........ I found pics I hadn't seen before and more. The latest is at the bottom, scroll down, lots of SDCC stuff. Don't know Spanish but I'm guessing that yellow list is the most recent additions list.

84 Charing Cross Road, 1987.

An interesting slow piece, based on real life correspondence between the American author and a British bookseller. Romantic but not quite a romance. Fascinating insight into life on both sides of the Atlantic.

Terrry Pratchett and Stephen Baxter's The Long Earth - ..... Interesting stuff when you take two writers of this calibre and put them together.  Quite a change of pace from Pratchett's 'World of Poo'!

I never even knew Pratchett had done that, will hunt for it next. And World of Poo is a classic :) - Reading Snuff right now and it just reminds me that I'd love to see a cop show based on Vimes and the Watchmen. I think there was talk of it somewhere, hope it happens.

I can't get over how 'gloopy' it sounds. It doesn't just look wet and messy, it sounds it too. Makes me cringe - in a good way! :)

Anyone come across a fuller write-up for the Masters of the Web panel? I've only seen pieces of info dropped out of twitter, and that interview thing above.

My preconceived notions were that it didn't make sense to not require ID while voting. Just to show folks that I have the right to vote for whatever it is. Like I have to when I go to vote in my polling station here in London. To resist having that kind of ID, the only reason I could think of was if you didn't have that right and wanted to hide that fact.

But it couldn't be that since no one would support cheating in elections, not in the land of the free, not openly anyway, so that's why I was confused and why I asked you here to help clear it up for me.

Were there other issues like privacy? Tracking? I remember ID cards were scrapped here too, for similar reasons I think. (Or maybe it was too costly, can't remember exactly). Same with the voter ID?

Your initial answer was something about terrorists, sounded like you were joking so I ignored it. And yes, Beaky responded with what I was assuming so I thought I had understood it right in the first place. As unlikely as it had seemed, because American politics had confused me like this before.

Was there voter fraud in all those elections? I have no idea, having never looked into it in much depth. But I do know that one party doesn't have the evil crown and the other a halo so I'm sure if voter fraud happens, all parties have had their share of it.

A quick trawl through twitter and it's amusing how a lot of the reactions are stunned ones. Dredd good?!! *g*

Anyway, I echo the guy above who thanked y'all for a brilliant day here yesterday. Hand on heart, never had such a good time by, technically, myself. Thanks, all :)
