We even have hierarchy within nerds, role-players more nerdy than comic fans, LARP's more nerdy than Role-players, collectible card gamers at the bottom of the pile.....

And then there's furries.

I'm sure it says something about my personal nerd status that as soon as I read this topic I hit Google to look up the geek hierachy chart.

CBR has an interview with IDW's Chris Ryall mentioning the Judge Dredd deal, not that there's very much information there.

I think it's the alien race most want to know as Loki's been the villain since the teaser at the end of Cap'n 'Merica.

There's some speculation that it might be
the Chitauri (Ultimate universe version of Skrulls)
, since
Fox probably owns the rights to traditional-style Skrulls as part of the Fantastic Four franchise
.

It seems like a six page reprint would be ideal as a backup story to a 20-something page monthly.  Plus it would be quite a smart hook to keep people buying if there's a multi-part reprint story to be collected over three or four months.  I'd assume the new material would probably be fairly continuity-light stories of Dredd dealing with your usual assortment of Mega-City perps, at least at first.  Younger Dredd would definitely make sense, though I guess it would restrict the supporting cast a bit.  But on the other hand they could bring back characters like Giant, so there is that.

Welcome to the board / Hey, all.

Guess I might as well introduce myself too, though I'll probably be mostly lurking.  (As I always claim right before I start rambling on at epic length.)  I'm a relatively new convert to 2000AD, but I've spent most of the last year madly reading all the Dredd collections I've been able to lay my hands on, and I'm now trying to catch up to the current progs on digital.

Outside of 2000AD I mostly just read Marvel at the moment, since I came late to comics and my grand plan to broaden my reading by sampling a bit of everything got hijacked when I picked up my first Dredd and everything else got shunted off the bottom of the priority list.  I write fiction, so I have vague aspirations of trying my hand at a Future Shock script someday, but right now I'm still in the, "Must attempt to read everything ever published!" stage of preparation.  (Which is always a conveniently good excuse for buying comics.  It's research!)

In order not to be entirely predictable in stating my opinions, I'll say that my second favourite thrill of those I've read so far is Nikolai Dante, and my second favourite character in the Dreddverse is DeMarco.  Though I also have a major soft spot for Vienna and the whole of Dredd's awkward little family of clones.

Hey, folks - anyone got any idea what's happening with Clickwheel these days?  I was interested in getting some of the earlier digital progs that aren't available in the official shop, but when I tried to sign up a few weeks ago I got a notice that the security certificate was expired, and returning today it seems like there's no longer any secure encryption whatsoever.  I can't say I'm too eager to send all my credit card details via an ordinary unencrypted http page...  :(

I see new progs are still being added, so somebody must be paying some attention, but I'm wondering if that "In due course our payment processing system will be updated" bit is actually likely to happen any time soon, or whether I'm better off just stumping up the extra postage to buy paper copies.
