The Ministry for the Future - Kim Stanley Robinson

It is science fiction, but grounded very firmly in science fact - an extrapolation based on our current understanding about how societies around the world cope with climate change in 5 - 20 years time.

It's absolutely fucking brutal, but is one of those pieces of work which feels super-important, and absolutely cover-to-cover enthralling.

Add it to your Xmas list.

Hey folks - RAFFLE UPDATE!!

**JUST ADDED**

Rogue Trooper rucksack:  This incredibly rare item is from the superb licensed merchandiser of 2000AD products, Planet Replicas.  A large and versatile rucksack, complete from grenade shaped holders, and Bagman biochip, this is a wonder to behold!

Scarlet Traces graphic novel:  From the genius minds of Ian Edginton and D'Israeli comes this crazy story of what happened after the Martian Invaders were repelled by Earth's bacteria in Edwardian England!

** JUST ADDED **

This will be running until end of January, with new prizes added weekly, so if you don't fancy a punt yet, keep checking in!

Wow - the first one where I've really had to consider carefully.

I'm going to go with the Kev O'Neill insanity. There will never be such a bonkers Xmas cover ever again.

Aye, 2900AD and Dredd tees are great social currency.

For a few years after the release of 'Dredd' my LastExit Justice Department tee provoked conversations about how great the film was from randoms in shops, pubs, restaurants etc etc.

Anyway, it was nice to hear the sound effect of that seismic charge again, which I felt was by far the best part of Attack of the Clones.

Cranky Uncle is out on iPhone!!

I've been beta-testing this game, and it's a fun (and free with no ads!) quiz-type game in which you can learn how to build resilience against misinformation - and have fun while doing that! The app is now available free for iPhone & iPad.

Learning to recognise logical fallacies provides players with an educational inoculation against them.

Highly recommended!

They are fab! And I too love the C&H one.  Isn't it great how many forumites seem to have been influenced by a wee lad and his tiger?

To be fair, if it wasn't for the remarkable sturdiness of Beskar, the stormtroopers would have nailed the Mandalorian a few times over by now.

Here we go, found some more stuff, all done around the time of the skateboard:

Dredd Citadel Miniature - I still have this carefully wrapped up in a tub alongside a painted Rogue Trooper from that board game, plus my Blood Bowl team:

Actually, this must have been done just after my skateboard as it looks like one of my first forays into using acrylics. As you can see, I was a huge fan of Dillon:

I'm absolutely loving these! DDD's Kano is so moody and atmospheric, and Colin's Halo is a great take on the character!

I must see if I can dig some more of my old 2000AD art stuff out, but TBH most art from my youth was lost over dozens of house moves over the years.

Superb Shoalin
What happened to the skateboard?

I used it to death and eventually had to replace the board itself. I painted the subsequent board with a freestyle non-copied Dredd, which wasn't very good. I think I then painted over that with a rendition of my Blood Bowl team, Dai Spike's All Blues.

I still have the skateboard, though the wheels are badly coned, and the rubber in the truck joints has largely perished. I last used it about four years ago. I gave my other more modern skateboards to the kids, and my daughter has taken up the mantle of family skateboarder.

Bozhemoi, Colin!  Every year your Calvin & Hobbes strips get better, but this one is really extraordinary. I want to read more!

Seconded! The
eye patch on Calvin's mum
is perfect!  :D :D
