That was a HELL of a night!

Ha, bloody lightweight, clearing off at midnight.

We hit the clubs til 4am(ish - might have been later?) with Ben, Dylan, Burdis, that guy from the Scorpion King that looks nothing like a bald Nick Kamen (Connor) and his lovely lady, Usher, erm.... my memory is failing me now...  Who else was there?!?

Anyway, home, passed out in front of Dredd 3D about 6am, and Burdis let me lie in for a whole 43 mins longer than he said he would, bellowing at me to get up at 8.43am.

At the convention by 9.30am, and stomped about in my Judge boots until 3pm, scaring little kids, and getting punters down on their knees for photos, with only a corned beef pastie and a cup of tea to keep me going.

And THAT, ladies and gents, is how it is done. ;)

A
mid-air collision with raining debris not as dramatic as a shoot-out?!?  I thought it was fantastic - the set-up was that soemthing bad was going to happen to the family, and it tricked us very well.  Having the rug pulled out from under our feet in the last moments was a fantastic treat - really good television!  I think it was a deliberate ploy to fool, not a cop-out.   And yeah, it showed how much of a monster Hal had become, and how it affected EVERYONE!!
..and is it just me or am I the only one that is hesitant to shoot the creatures that're on a WWF endangered list?

Considering how rare they're supposed to be, I stumble across them every few miles!  In this game they're definitely due a cull!

Tonight I need to sleep, ahead of a sesh in the Ernest Willows on Saturday night, and more tromping about in Judge boots on Sunday.

Tonight I need to sleep anyway, full stop - it's been an insanely busy fortnight!  Feet up next week, for sure.

One final one (for the moment).  Thanks to Steve Green again, for capturing such great moments:

My first comic convention, by shaolin_monkey aged 4(0)

Yes, seriously, my first ever comic convention, and only my second public outing in uniform!

I saw so much!  I did so much!  I've tried to do a full write up, but there was just too much, so:

Highlights

Joining Judge Burdis's and Court's patrol

Meeting Steve Green (and thanks for all those fucking awesome photos!), Steve Sterlaccini, Albion, SuperSurfer, Pete Wells, Robert Stewart – the list goes on and on!  Sorry if I've forgotten anyone.  Everyone was seriously cool!

The Iconic Legion folk – so helpful and friendly!

That wee 3 yr old lad assuming the position without being asked

Guarding Bolland

Crowd control for the Wagner, Bolland, Grant, Irvine etc Q&A

Escorting Wagner, Bolland, Grant, Irvine etc on stage

Threatening Wells with my daystick mid-Q&A after he resisted arrest

Judge Minty

Arresting shitloads of people

Getting snapped a gazillion times

Ariel

Grannie

Grimes

Xena and Sonja

Chief Judge Hershey

Subduing Chopper with my daystick

Loads of other amazing outfits

Free comics

Meeting Mechacraigzilla, one of my longtime Twitter narks!  He'd come all the way down from Dundee just for one day, and it was his first ever convention too!

Declaring to the 'Trade Your Way to the USA' camera that the kid's cookie was more delicious than Umpty Candy (I hope they leave that bit in - it cost me three bloody quid!!)

Alan Grant trying his best to make me laugh, and succeeding – "Judges shouldnae smile - stop smilin'! Ah see ye, yer grinnin'!"

Scaring someone when coming out of a toilet cubicle in full uniform

Just how bloody inclusive everything was – people of all creeds, colours, shapes and sizes were there, and having a blast.  Comics are truly awesome!

Lycra clad ladies EVERYWHERE!!

Sorry for the image heavy post, but it was the best way to describe it all really!

So much more!  Considering this was my first ever convention, it really set the bar high!

This was the little kid who watched us Judges 'arrest' people for photos. When it was his turn, he ran up and immediately assumed the position without having to be told - down on both knees, hands behind his head. It was both an 'Aww' and laugh out loud moment for all the onlookers!

Such a cool pic!

Easily in the hundreds. The killer is when you try to pop outside for a drink and every five paces you feel a tap on your shoulder for a photo. I managed two drinks each day

Yeah, the rare occasions I got anywhere near a drink I emptied entire bottles in just a couple of gulps.  It was so hot and sweaty I rarely needed a piss break, as my my body was using every ounce of water given it!

There was a quite a funny moment when I was in a toilet cubicle on the Saturday, had just gotten everything zipped up, and someone tried the cubicle door.  In full kit, helmet back on, I pulled the door open sharply and said 'All yours Citizen.'  The look on the poor bugger's face was priceless!

I've got to ask CF, how many people do you reckon you hit, club or otherwise pummel in ya average con? Wonder what ya record is (and can ya break it?!?...).

I was trying to keep count, but it was impossible.  If we go by just Steve Greens pics we're looking at about 20 arrests, but that's just the tip of the iceberg.  We were stopped for pics every 10 or so paces we walked, and at one point we had a huge semi-circle of folk all lining up for some daystick action!!!

I'd say over the two days of the convention we were easily looking over the 100+ mark.  John and David, would you agree?
