things felt really unoriginal in looper when the TK kid came on.before that i was a little bit unoriginal.
It was weird seeing all the 5 star reviews come out and then watching it and having other films pop into my head.

surely the reviewers were wrong, but they all seemed so sure it was worth 5 stars.

try the ASDA photo store online.on the regular prints section you can change the size up to a couple of feet.15x10 inches is something like £3.00 and you can have it delivered or pick it up from the store for free methinks.

just make sure you get a profit when you include the postage(s)

hope that helped.

thanks, that again was another reason why i'm not happy with the work anymore it all seemed randomly placed. And as BOLT 01 mentioned,I used that for a FTQ submission and that worked.

Whatever you do, do not take Jim's comments as discouraging - they are the opposite of that.
You've got a talent there, and if you're only 18... bloody hell I'm old.

thanks

i did try to take some kind of contstructive advice out of that.
what made me more happy was the 30-odd views the blog racked up

maybe that earlier comment from myself was a bit lazy

but in all honesty, every bit of work i do is an improvement on the previous thing,
if you take the time check out my blog at www.michaelkennedyillustrationart.wordpress.com
then i'd think you'd see where i was coming from in relation to the work i've done in the past four months via small press writers/publishers in the uk and overseas.

I may only be 18 but from self creating to collaboration,I've tried to be as professional a possible.

cheers

QuoteI'd say tracing over stills from the Dredd movie and adding a few photoshop filters is a 'no-no'.

I was going through a bit of phase there.I'm also not a fan of tracing,I draw separately but I do rely heavily on photos lately.

unforutunatley,my work has a sell by date of a couple of weeks so i'd class that as experimental.
(i finished the submission about a month ago but forgot to post about it.or post it for that matter.)

as a guy who self creates strips, from start to finish, lettering has taken up more thought than anything else.mainly by trying not to cock it up at the last hurdle.

also try Paint.net, it's free to download and is is basically photoshop but stripped down to bare essentials.

hey everybody

was just searching through the massive thread about submissions and a few questions have came to mind...

1.are artists submssions restricted to scripts given or can you use some thing else?i was gonna have a go at cycle of violence as it was my favoirate out of them all but seems clearly drained of life.which massively puts me off.

2.the artwork rules seem quite strict, can you submit coloured work?

3.what size should it be sent as? A4...A3?

4.is there any editorial preferences about the stlye of art work? most stuff is quite diverse in the progs but are there any no no's?

check my stuff out at www.michaelkennedyillustrationart.wordpress.com

any feedback/critique is welcome on this thread or to my mail box at mike_ky@hotmail.co.uk

thanks!

with self publishing or small scale publishing as long as it prints properly and works as a comic book in printed size then there should be no problem especially if its all done uniformly throughout then should be fine.

although the big publishers may get finickity about those kinda things

hi

reading your 2000ad thread on your PARAGON series I will be more than happy to offer my art services .As an 18 year old aspiring illustrator, living in the midlands has offered few and far between in terms of experience, leaving only my own writing skills to illustrate.what arttracts me most is the samurai theme as i recently spent my year producing my A Level art coursework on japnaese art and an illustrated essay on artisitc interpretations of the samurai.however i am now in my final week of exams so i will hope to send some artwork within the next week if it is not too late.but for general pointers:

my comic book work is most similar to:
takehiko inoue
mike perkins
michael lark
alex maleev

and my general illustration style is similar to :
drew struzan
jaques monory
dave mckean (covers)
yoji shinkawa
