Part of me would love to step into that parallel universe where they stuck with the original idea of Lance Henrickssen as the Terminator. Much as I like Arnold's version.
What about that other parallel universe, where OJ Simpson was the Terminator because Cameron was willing to believe people could view him as a killer?! Too morbid? I remember reading a Lance Henrickssen interview some years back where he discussed his trying to impress Cameron for the role and it sounded a little too much like he was trying to come across as nasty instead of emotionless (also put his voice down to 50 Marlboros a day since an early age, so I've no idea how he's still going) so I think Arnold was the right choice for it. I'd still like to see Henrickssen as The Saint of Killers if HBO or whoever in Hollywood get that Preacher adaptation going though.

I think he might be referring to Daredevil: End of Days by Bendis, Maleev (with klaus Janson apparently) I'm trade waiting it so can't be sure, but sounds about right.
Thanks for that, Colin, and End of Days does sound familiar; can't believe I overlooked the current Marvel slogan (e.g. If you're not sure who the writer is going to be, it's more than likely Bendis) on this. I'm one of those who don't really like his work so I'm a bit disappointed to hear his name and can't see him doing anything comparable to Dark Knight. May have to punch my brother in the back of the head next time I see him for this...

Saw my older brother yesterday and he asked if I've heard about the upcoming DareDevil story which he says is supposed to do for DareDevil what Dark Knight Returns did for Batman. Think he may have said Punisher is incarcerated in it and is toying with giving away information like Dr Lecter in Silence of the Lambs and DD is dead? I was far too hot to pay decent attention to what he had to say given the distance I'd just walked in the heat but I'm afraid I can't even remember the title or creative team behind this! Come to think about it, this may have simply been a heat-induced fantasy.

Recently finished Graham's Prophet: Remission after seeing a number of people on the forum raving about the series. It was enjoyable but at the end I was left wondering whether I wasn't totally sure to what was going on because it was going to be explained more as the series continues or because it ties to the last Prophet run which I know little of. Think I'll wait until a third collection is available before picking up the 2nd part.

I understand there making another Terminator Film soon apparently concentrating on Arnie's Terminator. How Arnie became a killing Machine ? Could that save the franchise or bury it?
That's one of the other things I don't like about Terminator being a franchise instead of one film- the Schwarzenegger insistence. How many times are the human survivors going to fall for yet another cyborg that looks like Schwarzenegger (if not an older-looking version of him)? Even in 3 they confirm there is an assembly line of Schwarzeneggers! Hadn't heard how the next one is his story but somebody told me a while back that there is a deleted scene from Salvation with Schwarzenegger as a soldier of some kind (with a Texas accent) working with Skynet on the whole idea of cyber-fighters for the military. Like this possible plot for the next installment I've just found out about, it sounds terrible to me.

Recent talk of movie knock-offs has me determined to watch Iron Hero pretty soon (a gag Xmas gift from a mate a few years back. Bizarrely, I bought it for him as a gag Xmas gift that very same year). Tag lines include The Heart of 'SUPERMAN'. The mind and body of 'TERMINATOR' and Part man... Part Machine... All Hero. The blurb on the back mentions Iron Hero taking on Reed's (?) ninja henchmen and ultimate secret weapon 'the Mecha Terror robot'. The "awesome powers" of the Iron Hero suit includes invisibility, which I'm guessing will be used quite a lot.
Now finding myself wondering how I have managed to resist this for so long, I may actually put it on a little later.

I can't say it's a film I was intending to rush out and see (or had any particular interest in, really) but the friend I watch the TV gold called Sons of Anarchy with has recently found out Charlie Hunnam is also in Pacific Rim. Said friend fancies the arse off Charlie Hunnam and is now saying we have to see this when it comes out. I can't even tell you her logic is "You like comic books etc, so you'll love this"; I'm the one who'll have to go and see it with her because Hunnam brought out a side to her I'd never seen before- a side that stops her from recommending Sons of Anarchy to her friends so she can keep Hunnam's good-looks to herself. I'll be sure to drop all reservations I have for the film once the lights go down and the movie begins but I'm aware Sons is pretty big in America and if somebody involved with Pacific Rim happens to have thought it would be great to have Hunnam turn to Perlman (or vice versa) and say something like "Let's ride, brother" because of it, I'm afraid I really will walk out of the showing... And then have to wait for it to finish before my friend comes out.

Had to walk for over an hour today to reach the place where I was handing in an application form. If they're looking to hire beardy men dripping with sweat, I'm a bloody shoe-in.

Sir, I was talking about The Returned (which is why I quoted your mention of The Returned)! I like to think your confusion was caused by this hot weather having you unable to read/think straight because that would make us kindred spirits. I really wish it would rain or, at the very least, sweating people with bright red faces would stop turning to me in the queue at the shop to say "Isn't this weather great!"
No, it isn't. Leave me to angrily wait in line in peace.

Okay my plan didn't quite work as I forgot The Returned finishes at 11.10 (on Ch4 +1).
I missed episodes 3 and 4 cos they were shown during my recent pi$$-poor TV reception period and so I haven't watched tonight's and won't watch the next few episodes because I won't have any idea to what I've missed or what is going on. You'll have to let me know following episode 8 whether a boxset purchase is in order.

I missed last week's because my TV aerial wasn't working and I missed this week's because of this switch-around. Doing that to a fairly popular show they would have spent a bit of money on seems odd, especially the excuse they give seeing how every year it's mentioned how many more people have stopped watching Big Brother and yet they're keeping that in it's place. Oh hang on, isn't channel5 owned by the same company that runs the 'exclusive' stories with housemates...?

Sorry if this has been posted earlier and it slipped me by, but here's Mark Waid vs Man of Steel

I'd warn of spoilers but I guess you've all seen it and if you haven't, it's because you're not particularly interested in the Goyer/ Snyder-ised Superman and you won't care about what's given away here.

John Hurt has apparently been (somewhat) confirmed as the missing Dr between McGann and Ecclestone.

Prophet Vol. 2:

Absolutely superb stuff. Shaping up to be the read of the month for me.
I recently said Prophet was edging its way onto my purchase list, thinking I might make it a next purchase (checked Amazon; the books are under £6!). I was going to take a chance on the new DareDevil run but part of me is thinking maybe I should keep DareDevil as the collection I've already read- you know, like albums from when you were younger that you go back to from time to time? Don't want to risk another disappointment featuring my favourite comic character here so I may just go and dip my toes in the untested waters instead.

Went to see it today with a friend who couldn't make it with the rest of us 1st time around. So my second viewing... Seemed a lot longer. I think every scene seemed a lot longer with sitting there knowing he had to do such and such before the scene (and film in general) finally finished. Noticed more this time around how they have him stop the school bus from sinking and he saves the oil rig workers and then has to get moving again but the second he gets his suit and so can stick around, he seems to not give a shit about anybody. Seriously, all he does once he dons the cape is fight a lot and cause massive explosions without a thought of anybody nearby. Yes, he stops the
is it "Earth Engine" or "Machine"? Again, I stopped paying attention during the film
but his fights in Kansas and then Metropolis? Even before the fight in Smallville starts he tells people to wait indoors before the fight starts. Then we have nothing but buildings being blown up. I think with DC here trying to do a film 'bigger than Marvel's' was an attempt to have one person's asking "Hang on, how many people have died in this scene alone?" being answered by two people saying "Who cares- this fight is so cool!"
In short- got an apology off my mate when the end credits started rolling. Said friend wasn't expecting it to be "that" bad.
