I didn't know Girls Just Wanna Have Fun wasn't a Cyndi Lauper original composition, which means she's responsible for two great cover versions.

I'm not sure what scares me more: the thought of Roy Orbison http://youtu.be/m5N9IHqqGcA or Celine Dion http://youtu.be/kvz_gW5C2cY waking me from my sleep to make love to me.  :o

Girls just want to have fun!

The famous version - which I also love

I love the eighties version but for some reason that I can't put my finger on I don't like the re-recording from the nineties. There's nothing intrinsically wrong with it but maybe it just lacks that brattish "Ooomph!"

For those interested in such things, I've added an article to my website on how the cover for The Third Law was created...

Creating the Cover of Rico Dredd: The Third Law

-- Mike

Mike, that's a nifty bit of work and the impact of the finished cover is well worth the effort. Am I the only one, when looking a representation of Dredd without his helmet on (in this case Rico Dredd), feels a bit uneasy? Like you are peering through a gap in a curtain and seeing something that you shouldn't be. Probably just me.

This has just been announced on their website and it's 108mm by 75mm by 28mm, with only 100 made, so get your orders in now. I think that's it, oh hang on it's £96.40 but you do get free p&p

Must. Not. Mention. Dredd's. Package. Dresses to the right I see.

This song makes me sad. It was never off the radio when I broke up with my first ever proper girlfriend when I was 14.

It is too emotive an issue

It really shouldn't be.

I couldn't agree more. Honestly, I can't wait until the whole bloody thing is over and done with and normality can resume.

A few months ago I expressed my stance on the independence referendum over on the Politics Thread. I was wary of it being a topic of discussion back then and, given what has been in the news of late, I am even more so now. It is too emotive an issue and life's too short for people to fall out over it - not that anybody has but there's always the danger. We're all The Mighty One's bairns.

Ah hell, what do I know? Carry on.

Also kudos to the art-droid who did the cover.

Just purchased and the cover is by Michael Carroll and Pye Parr.

Is there no end to their talents? :D

Rico Dredd - The Titan Years. That looks suspiciously like an umbrella title for a series of e-books. Will there be more Rico Dredd books? Being a realist I am not expecting there to be more but if there were that would be SO FRICKIN' COOL! Sorry, my emotions got the better of me there. Also kudos to the art-droid who did the cover.

What do you peeps consider to be the saddest song?

Not a fan of the band but I think Brick by Ben Folds Five is pretty sad.

'Internaly screams with joy' I'm not even joking here, Spaniels are my bloody life blood. I can think of no other breed of dog, or even animal, that brings me so much joy and thats a damn beautiful little creature you have their, 8-B. Cherish her, she'll bring you much joy and ammusement.

Oh I do! I wasn't so sure at first when we got her in 2005. It was heartbreaking enough losing two previous dogs, one got hit by a motorbike in 1991 and the other of old age in 2003, and I didn't want to go through all that again. But now that we have her...  :D

I hope that Sprocket gets better. :(

Thought so, the're bred to it....my father had spaniels years ago (gun dogs); that was back when anything he shot was a welcome addition to the table for five kids....I hasten to add we would be anti blood sports in a big way. Z

We got her as a puppy from a neighbour who was keeping her as an eventual gun dog. She was the runt of the litter; her brothers and sisters are huge compared to her.

Not a recommendation AT ALL, but I've realised that the new Arctic Monkeys single reminds me of The Importance Of Being Idle, which was already ripping off The Small Faces, The Kinks, Cockney Rebel, and probably a dozen obscure sixties outfits I'm unaware of. Pop might finally be eating itself, as predicted.

Pop Will Eat Iself, now there's a blast from the past. http://youtu.be/OmTyDvgp9zc

D'you take her near the water much?

She's never out of it. There's a stream close by and she just loves jumping in muddy puddles.
