Those covers are great but I can imagine a brief glance at them on a newsagents stand, they kinda look like a fascist magazine...Brazil provides a slightly different context I would suggest to how we perceive those grim Dredd visages.

Doh! Wrong thread

My attitude towards British history is simple: if you can't acknowledge the terrible things you can't celebrate the good things. Never met a 'patriot' yet who passed that test.

Cover: Classic cover
Editorial: you tell 'em Thargy!
Dredd: enjoyable, Dredd I'd always good in the taking back mah citeh storyline. My problem is how underdeveloped the texcits are, as is the city itself. Still here are some spoilers: Dredd kicks arse, wins and everything resets.
Brink: grows on me every week. First3 pages were perfect.
Slaine: stunning, just stunning art work. Action scenes are ok but Slaine doesn't lose, so you know sigh. I'm not sure what you do with a long running character whose main characteristic is fighting when you know he can't lose.
Grey are: enjoyable romp sort of stuff, nice ending err except there's another episode next week? Some stories do seem a bit bloated to me, time to tighten up Thargy!

Another lovely year as detailed in the latest 2000ad thrill mail.

Better than even 1981 for me, possibly because I was 14 at the time and properly into 2000ad. Lots of lovely cliff Robinson and Glenn Fabry covers but my favourite is 440. A great Cam Kennedy cover with two tonne tony! Sums up the humour and pathos of 2000ad and just sticks with you. Fat chance!

Prog / Prog 1984 - Orwell that ends well?

Great prog overall

Cover: grim but effective, appropriate for 1984
Dredd: predictable perhaps but effective and dramatic
Slaine: best episode so far, as beautiful as ever. Adventures of the boy Slaine would suit me fine
Brink: explodes into life, you know a story is working when you worry for a character
Black shuck: just started so I'm waiting seeing
Grey area: fun and enjoyable if lacking in emotional weight for me

LOVE MY SUB!

Cover: good doggy
Dredd: starting to drag, the big reveal doesn't mean much to me, too many years missed
Slaine: getting frustrating, always feels like an intro with the real action just round the corner but we never quite get there. Love Slaine so I'm hanging in there but it's trying my patience a bit
Brink: loving it, starting to feel attached to the characters and care about their fate
Black shuck: new story for me but looks interesting
Grey area: bit meh

Future thrills:  film Anderson! Looking forward to that (fank gawd for a joint sub!)
