In a nutshell, I'm not trying to convince people that color art is better than black & white art. But some preferring the medium of black & white art or some proffering the medium of color art I don't think is stupid. I don't think having some preferences in art other than neutrality is the mark of a philistine.

Black and white is a different visual experience. You can think it's inferior if you like, but you're wrong and expressing that view is likely to bring you some pushback. I didn't just make up the philistine thing. Blame the idiots who coloured It's A Wonderful Life.

Some work is intentionally black & white. It should not be coloured against the wishes of the creators, nor should creators be deterred from producing black and white work in the first place.

The colourization of Night of the Living Dead (1968) saps all mood & atmosphere from that wonderfull movie too!

Now Aliens: Colonial Marines £3.74 on Steam...  :o

That was quick... and deserved from what I've heard. It's up there with Duke Nukem Forever.

Just read an advance e-book copy of DC's Injustice: Gods Among Us.

Collecting issues 1-6 of the comic it's a great little read - a lot funnier and more poignant than much of the stuff we see from our American cousins. It also achieves something I had previously thought impossible: it turns Aquaman into a really scary character.

Injustice is without a doubt one of the best things DC are putting out at the moment - it's one of my favourite pulls. It's basically an ongoing "What if.." that asks that question what would the world be like if the superheroes concentrated on the bigger picture of the real world events that are ongoing today. In the latest issue Kalibak, Darkseid's son, has heard about Supes and co. de-weaponising the earth so attempts a full on attack at the world's busiest cities, Supes decides to no longer handle these kind of invasions with gloves on & simply let them scamper off home only to attack again one day but to take drastic measures (the "rule", is broken again and again and again..)

It's dark and very funny and extremely well written. The art was rough in the beginning as DC had no confidence in the title (and the first bunch of issues are worth a small fortune as they simply wasn't enough to meet the demand - I think #1 went into 4th or 5th printing) but the last few have improved a lot.

I'm reading some megs from the 280's and it's bloody rough going; more ads, tank girl, 6 pages of movie reviews (wtf are they doing in the meg?!) endless editorials. The meg is million times better as it is stands today. So enjoy; you've got a rough patch coming your way soon!

It was that period, and specifically endless months of bloody Tank Girl, that finished me off and led to me cancelling my Meg subscription.

These strips is the first Tank Girl I've read before; nothing against the art but it's puerile nonsense, I'm not sure if they were going for quirky but it's not.

The meg doesn't feel like the bumper comic it is now but a magazine that has some strips inside it. It's crazy seeing just how many other magazines are advertised within that are long dead now; haven't heard of half of them before and we're only talking 2009-2010.

Slaine must be utterly impenetrable to new readers. To more veteran readers, it's just a more inspid and less elegant retelling of stories that were originally done far, far better. Utterly gorgeous art, though.

I can only describe it as being dumped in the audience for a greatest hits tour of a band you've never heard of. I'm not familiar with any of these songs and, if I'm honest, not a fan of the lyrics so I'm just sitting back enjoying the light show. And my god was that some pretty lights in this week's tale. One of those where I've had the page close to my face soaking in the fine detail. One of the most stunning things I've read in the prog full stop. Some lucky chap (dale?!) gonna end up with those pages in the flesh (all the better without the lyrics, sorry - speech bubbles, all over it).

Defoe and Wolfworld are both tales I'm not invested in but are totally unnoffensive material; Defoe has lovely art and Wolftime is good Saturday morning cartoon nonsense (as a previous poster put it).

Ten Seconders is exactly my kinda sci-fi!

Oh and I'll say it again though - Willsher is my favorite Dredd artist, love the layouts and all those long sharp lines. I like Dredd best when it's these procedural tales but I might not be the person of authority there as I really enjoyed Grey Area! (When's that coming back?!)

If the prog was the only comic on pull I'd be more disappointed I guess. But it isn't so onwards through the pile.....

Call me easy to please but another cracking meg this month.

Always funny to hear of another Alan Moore collaborator that's had the dummy spat out at him from the bearded man child.

Some nice brief history of Slaine artists for the total Slaine newb like me.

Points for giving shout out to Hugh Everret III in the dimension travel tale.

Bye to Mr Fransisco and I'm officially lost with Insurrection; I really need to get through those back issue megs I have stacked knee deep to get up to speed with that story.

Dredd fiction still not for me; can't get few paragraphs without zoning out.

Meg 340 looks like it'll shift a few copies - is the Meg big enough to hold two different Dredds! ;D

Black Siddah was top, lovely Davis art and very funny throughout. Did they leave this series open ended?!

I dont mind quick time events, gives you something do during cut scenes instead of reaching for the skip button. I don't mind story or cut scenes in games as long as it's well written like TellTales the Walking Dead and not like Metal Gear Solid.

I wasn't a fan of Uncharted 3 at all which Naughty Dog got near critical acclaim for, I thought it was a very pretty game hiding a boring plot, unsatisfying shooting and way too restrictive level design so don't think I'll check out Last of Us especially considering I just don't have the patience for stealth em ups.

QuoteHis mum was similarly keen to discourage the hobby: she banned him from having his favourite comic, Judge Dredd, in the house, saying it was too violent.

I hope he gives her the fingers everytime he visits

Lovely stuff, can't wait for this
