Welcome to the board / Hello world!

Been on here a couple of months now and realised I never properly introduced myself, and so here I am!

Hello!

Anyway, I'm a fairly recent dredd fan, since the film really.been a big comic book fan all my life but alas I was fairly oblivious to the brilliance of 2000ad until recently, but now I'm completely obsessed. Currently soaking up the case files and loving getting a crisp issue of the prog blasted through my door every Saturday.

I'm keen to improve my art skills, and hugely impressed by the artwork getting posted around these forums,so I imagine I'll be posting mostly around Creative Commons and hopefully participating in the monthly art comps, if I ever manage to produce something on time.

does anyone know if theres an android app for getting 2000ad? ive used the iphone one and its pretty awesome but personally i find the screens just a little too small to soak up all that thrillpower. theres a bunch of pretty cheap 7" android tablets out there that would be perfect for reading on, maybe even the kindle fire?

yeh a self imposed trial by fire this one, think its a testament to the top class people on here tho that everyones offered intelligent and understanding comments, and it hasnt turned into a slagging match so common online. proves its a classy community, one id like to be a part of, and hopefully havent screwed up too much by a rushed first post. your first times always a messy embarassing rush job!

nah its cool , like robo said he's a little closer to the production of these things and when it looks like someone is just rolling in and shitting all over a lot of peoples hard work i can see why id be told to be more respectful.

Im glad you can see where i was coming from with it tho, as ive said before i think the artwork is incredible and was only describing it as disgusting in the context that it would be different from the rest of my colection, and not that taken on its own i think it is disgusting......but i failed to properly convey that.
i also regret bitching about forbidden planet, just because ive had one bad experience it doesnt reflect them as a whole and ive had plenty of successful purchases with them too. risky buisness this forum posting lark, need to engage my brain more before i type!

Yeh your completely right. Was my first ever post an I just blasted it out an hit post thinking it would come out perfect.Think it's fair to say I made a balls up of it, was actually tryin to be funny overexagerating about it but that doesn't really come across very well on a forum as I now realise.

Yeh there great for hooking in new fans. Personally I'd never read any dredd or 2000ad until I saw the recent dredd film.loved the movie and was intrigued about the character so been able to absorb myself in it right from the start is fantastic and turned me into a big fan and a subscriber to 2000ad aswel.

Encouraging that it seems I'm not the only new comer too, amazon has case files 01 in its top 100 graphic novel sellers for 1312 days, over 3 years!

yeh,  im diapointed that i worded it so that it came across i was saying i found the artwork disgusting becasue thats not what i was trying to say, and not at all how i feel about it.

if i had have been offering an opinion on the art then id have been well within my rights as a human and not a robot to think and express that , but i wasnt really , i was just being a snob about a different design of the cover not fitting in with the rest of my books (boohoo i know!) and wasnt attacking the art itself.

ok as luck would have it waterstones was indeed the place to look , managed to find a copy so very happy!

thanks for all the help and info , and good to know re-prints are constantly being produced. again apologies for initally expressing myself poorly , bloody love dredd , the artwork and everything to do with it and i hate that i may have given the impression that i dont, just being a snooty collector!

I realise that was a poor choice of words,No disrespect was intended to the artist or artwork itself on the American cover, I wouldn't be obsessed with collecting and reading the case files if I didn't love every inch of the dredd artwork. My comment was referring to the design and not the artwork itself and was purely at the fact it's different to the rest of my anal collection, not that actually think that's its bad.

Sorry if that offended anyone, will consider what I type more carefully in future.
