at last I can contribute to this thread! There's no way I could afford to be a collector, so the only page of original art I own is a rather nice Elson Dredd from the Hi-Ex charity auction - pic on old thread here: http://forums.2000adonline.com/index.php/topic,35598.msg666884.html#msg666884

A very nice piece DDD.....
As SimeonB says it's not all about £500+ pieces.....It's about what each piece means to you and there is a lot of very good artwork out there at very reasonable prices.....Only thing about collecting artwork, and its' been said on here before.... ( Stay focused on what you like )......It's easy to get distracted..
Check out Hippynumber1's ebay stuff by John Cooper....some very nice pieces there and very reasonable as well......
And just to show you what you can get ( Thanks to SimeonB again, for alerting me to this )....I got this wonderful Henry Flint    Mongrol sketch for £14...!!.....And I love it.....
I am planning to get this framed together with my Bob Molesworth Mongrol commission ( both in one frame ) so there'll be a B/W and a colour side by side.....
Cheers

That is just such an amazing piece,  Mark.....
Love the look on Middenface,  and the look of 'absolute terror' in the Gronks' eyes.....
Just wonderful !!

I loved Calvin and Hobbes in my younger days....Still love them now to be honest.... :D
Don't really see the point in this movie / documentary if they have not managed to get Bill Watterson to be involved in it....I know he is a very private man, but if he is not involved it can only be a 'talking heads' type feature......
Don't know if that'll be enough to get me to go see it.......But I'll wait till it's reviewed and then decide...

Just read that the same company who did the awful remake of Day Of The Dead are about to remake...Day Of The Dead. Again.

Why on earth would they want to do this ????
Another remake of a poor remake ???....FFS !!

That's a very lovely piece SimeonB........
I would say you are a 'full blown art collecting addict' now !!... :D
Instead of 'sharp' angles everywhere, it's full of curved lines....and the perspective is brilliant...I really like it !!.....and Dredds'  'scowl' is spot on....
May be a bit of criticism coming about his helmet though.......Its a 'bit flared' at the bottom.....
A great piece.......Any idea when it was painted ???...Late 80's ??...( Mk 1 Lawgiver ) ... Is it a published piece or a commission ??
Cheers...

Slightly 'off topic',  but still related to playing Aliens.....Many years ago, Glasgow had an Alien War experience,  below the Arches ( I think )...
My wife and I took the kids ( 12 and 9 at the time ),  and we were ushered into a small room, which was done up like the inside of a corridor in a Space Station.....It looked very realistic in the 'semi dark'....

The attendant ( dressed as a Space Marine ) gave us 'the warm up blurb'........" We are on the Alien planet, and we are safe at the moment.....Then the alarm went off !!!.........Really Loud and constant, and the announcement is made...." It's a Alien break through......we have to make our way to the escape chamber "....
Then the lights go off and the 'strobe' lighting started......and everyone started running towards the escape chamber...........Off course one of the doors then opened,  and a guy in an Alien suit 'roars' and it was total chaos !!

Our kids took off 'like scalded cats',  totally 'into' the scenario, ( actually I think by this time, they really believed it, as the constant 'Siren' made it hard to think or talk )  and leaving their mum and me to make our own way to the escape chamber......

It was brilliant !!.....Quite scary, and our kids absolutely loved it !! .........Off course once you reached the escape chamber and opened the door ..... you were in the shop.... where they sold Comics, toys and goods relating to the 'experience'.....
Still occasionally mention it to the kids ( now fully grown ) about how they 'saved themselves' and left their mum and dad to their fate !!

I forgot to check this week's shifts on Friday, whcih means that I'll have to go in for 8 tomorrow - and just hpe I'm not down for an 11.30 start

I had just done 4  x  12 hour Dayshifts ( 06.00 hrs - 18.00 hrs ) and automatically woke at 5am the next day,  got washed and dressed and went into work ( 13 mile journey ) and went into my office before I realised I was due to start Nightshift that night at 6 PM !!.........TWAT !!
...........Ooohhh....How my colleagues laughed !!

Part of me would love to step into that parallel universe where they stuck with the original idea of Lance Henrickssen as the Terminator. Much as I like Arnold's version.

I also like Arnies' version and thought T2 was an excellent movie......T3 and T4 not so much....
Not dreadful, but given the 'subject matter' could have been so much better...
And I had never heard that Lance Henrickssen was considered for the role originally !!!...... :o.
I would really have liked to have seen that !!

Heard on the radio yesterday, that there is going to be an extra 600 Police ferried over to assist....
An extra 600 !!....FFS !...
Didn't realise there was still that many Police in the country, coz apart from the Motorway Police, I've never seen one for ages !!
