That nearly tipped it a higher classification but they were able to keep it in the end.

I have to say that the certificate system is boarderline redundant right now as the BBFC seem to be handing out '12's and '15's to some very creepy pieces of work and it seem's that you have to be boardering Hostel level violence to be given an '18'.

I think the certification scheme is at its highpoint at the moment. When you dig into the details, the decisions are all made logically and consistently. Actual gore and depiction of extreme violence will always push things up.

Only problem is the American rating system which locks almost everything down to 12.

First two episodes ten times better than 90% of what came before.

Just occurred to me whilst doing some research that the prog's Stone Island had a lot of similarities to Invasion: Earth.

Which wasn't a terribly good show on reflection I suppose but had its moments; the distinctive and enigmatic friendly aliens - who all commit suicide after decades of war just to spite their enemy. And lets not forget the creeping horrors from another dimension that are looking to make us the next harvest, the creeping paranoia and body horror of those taken and returned by the enemy - and of course the brutally bleak outlook of a world under attack from within and without, a world where the 'magic bullet' completely fails and the only hope left is a nuclear bomb and a scorched earth policy for the slightest intrusion... which seemed far from certain anyway.

Creeped me out massively as a child

The Injustice comic (a digital only release) is probably among the very best of DC's current output. Not saying much mind but its a fun yarn

The Good the Bad and the Infernal by Guy Adams - didn't get anywhere in particular by the end, but was fun en route. A real page turner of pulpy goodness.

I don't mind going forwards... when you're talking about changing a standard practice done by loads of people across loads of things, I think it makes sense - i.e. rather than going *back* and changing everything that's already been done to the new revised standards, which is a huge amount of work.

Mind you maybe that only makes sense in my work, big databases of editorial info.

Three different passwords, tailored to the specific thing I am trying to access in a fashion I can deduce from the name of the thing in question.

I didn't get on with the Calhab stuff at all. All a bit twee and disjointed... shame as I love seeing the wider world of the megs.

Speak to your neighbours, call the council and the plods together. And next time you see her quietly say that you'll cut her ****ing head off if she does anything to your stuff again, then walk away with a big smile on your face.

I'd approve.

Average 16-year old is no more of an idiot than most 20 year olds, just in different ways. Certainly no more likely to either be idealistic or slavishly in thrall to their family's beliefs.

QuoteNot a big surprise, really - reinforces my conviction that, contrary to the anarchist/nationalist/Marxist/fascist analysis of a population just waiting to have a better voting system and better media coverage before voting for (insert preferred option here), the low voting figures in general elections reflect a population broadly satisfied with the Westminster consensus.

Just goes to show how easy it is to make anything fit your own convictions. It's anecdotal evidence to be sure but I've not met any one who has decided not to vote who was satisfied with the Westminster consensus - not a single person. Seems an entirely empty correlation no matter how I look it.

Yeah. Would've been good to have had one scene with the big evil corporate man discussing things with the commissioner and the mayor, not just the CDC guy under his thumb.

Since by my count - two FBI officers (in daylight-ish), at least three cops (judging by the wandering vampies) and two prison guards have been killed, there should be some kind of NYPD response or scenes of cops using their blue-and-reds to flee the city.

Mind you, it's a minor fault. And you can't show everything. Like all zombie movies the hospitals should now be completely out of control.
