Books & Comics / Re: Wild's End by Abnett and Culbard

I mentioned this in the 'what are you reading' thread but I should point out Abnett & Culbard are doing another comic at the moment - Dark Horse's The Dark Ages. Culbard also does hideous bizarre monsters well.

Just picked up both issues of the Abnett & Culbard droid's Dark Ages

Apocalyptically good. I don't know what's going on yet exactly but it's not looking good for this band of weary soldiers.

Also picked up the first issue of Wild's End, from the same droid duo (Culbard seems to be hitting his deadlines!). One of my favourite things about this is that Culbard gets to draw things other than humans as the main characters, turns out he is pretty grand at the ol' anthropomorphising. And of course, as Brass Sun has shown, he does a fine job of strange things killing people in strange ways. I'm not sure yet whether this will have quite the same sinister charm as Dark Ages but I'm more than happy if it only turns out to be War Of the Wind in the Willows.

I suppose because Neville struck me more as a blue-collar guy than Vincent Price.

Last Man on Earth is painfully slow. Not necessarily something I am completely against but it has none of the desperate energy of the novel.

After finishing off the John Lithgow series of Dexter, I don't think I'll be looking back in again.

Now it's on to Utopia proper, which 3 episodes in is rather special. Nice to see Faisal from Four Lions again. It's nice to hear all those lovely accents on screen - shame Smiley didn't stick around.

Would they normally bring the armed unit out to deal with a knife?

To be fair, Dirk Gently is a bit of a tool. The Harry Enfield radio adaptation is of course superior but then, it would be. He's Harry Enfield.

I quite liked the Mangan series but it had a lot of failings.

I think it's unlikely the iWatch will be the huge success of the rest of Apple's products, but that enough wealthy/misguided fanatics will get one as an accessory to make them money.

The Akira influences are strong in this one :)

Love the Mod Squad. This should have been the design for Brit-Cit!

Funnily enough that's roughly what I said when I saw him at Glasto.

QuoteAll usage of CCTV other than in a purely domestic context must be undertaken in compliance with the requirements of data protection legislation. As CCTV infringes the privacy of the persons captured in the images there must be a genuine reason for installing such a system. If installing such a system, it is required that the purpose for its use be displayed in a prominent position.

Employers may use CCTV to monitor the workplace for various reasons. If CCTV is installed in a workplace, the employer should use signage to inform employees of the location of the cameras and to explain the purpose for which they are installed. Under the Data Protection Acts, if your employer informed you that the CCTV cameras were installed to prevent, for example, theft from the workplace, the CCTV footage cannot be used for another purpose such as recording the entry and exit of employees from the workplace.

If he ain't actually your employer and this ain't actually a policy just some creepy guys idea, then could always drop a teatowel over it/put your mug down straight in front. Repeatedly.
