It makes me so disappointed whenever I think of the injustice done to Pa Kent.

I suppose one of the things that makes Superman special to me is the idea that "Do good to others and everyman can be a superman" - and that ultimately what makes Superman a hero isn't his space-dad's mission of imperialist moral superiority but his adopted family's straightforward acceptance, love, compassion and support.

The animated series got it pretty perfectly, as always. Hell Lois and Clark got it right.

Hm.

But
Superman lets his dad die and then undermines that whole sacrifice in the end anyway to become Superman! Rargh.
Watched Wreck It Ralph. Fun, loved the animation, bit underwhelmed by the characters and the story in the end.

Chemtrails.

The product of the people who don't know about water vapour and/or how engines work?

Or a sinister conspiracy all aroud (above) us?

Surprisingly popular theory amongst the crustys at Glasto I found.

I suppose SinDex was where my collection of 2000AD started, which led on to me eventually collecting the Megazine and then onto the prog proper. Previously I'd read some Judge Dredd collections and the odd few Eagle comics my Dad had (oh and the Dredd/Batman crossover) but it was around when DC started reprinting them that I took a proper interest.

Whole of funtin fun in Sinister Dexter even if I never really connected with the overall plotline.

I can sense a 'but' in that sentence.

With my eyes.

Hm I love the intro to Adventure Time.

It's Adventure Time! That's all I want from it.

It's good with some kind of sensory enhancement, I can confirm (but will deny everything if pressed)

About to take a break from the Shield for the last season of Luther

Damn.

This looks cracking and I don't want to put a damper on things. However I am still slightly upset that this isn't SHODAN related

Did Travis have a disagreement with Garland or with the execs? I seem to remember there was sometihng about him being kept out of the editing process.

Interestingly (but confusingly) the show is airing out of production order. From the AV club:
Quote
"Blood Brothers" was the eighth episode of Almost Human produced, but it's the fifth to air. Next week is the third episode produced, and the second episode isn't even on the schedule.

Perhaps I have them confused.

Checking the STC wikia, I definitely do.

I take it back! They all seem to have been illustrated in the same awful style which I remember thinking was ropey even as a bairn

Summed up exactly how I think about Strontium Dog and was just as fun :)

Marketing + 3D pricing + a limited release. However marketing was really, truly terribly done. Trailers were good but didn't play anywhere.

I don't understand why anyone thinks that forcing a movie title to actually have 3D in its proper title is a good idea. It's terrible. I went to see Dredd, in 3D.

I agree that this stuff is pretty poor and Millar's work in 2000AD is not stuff I like, though I did like a lot of what he wrote in Sonic the Comic (possibly better when he has to restrain himself) and I think the Ultimates is a good story in and of itself. Loved Ultimate X-men too. He's just a bit too crass and smug about it without doing anything particularly interesting - Kick Ass 2 pretty much nailed it for me.

However...Judge Dredd is simply tougher than everyone else. That's the basic conceit of decades of concentrated thrill power.

He hallucinated and "saw angels coming in to the stadium".

Sometimes (well very often actually) I am happy for my nominally secular, rationalist upbringing and the wider society of mostly-scepticism that I belong to which supports my opinion that such excuses are frankly, bollocks.
