Frank Miller just turned into a big ball of crazy. Other than the ever more obnoxious and lazy output of stuff like All Star Batman, he wrote long blog posts railing against those damn protesters undermining America before writing Holy Terror in peak-FOX news conversion, and then there was stuff like the abuse of his assistant (involving faeces).

If you don't appear in any media organs, you don't appear. Damned either way when you stick your head up it seems.

If only the Conservatives were James O'Brien, I could actually vote for them.

My idiot friends liked Nigel Farage, and Boris Johnson. The ones who voted Leave and said we are "GREAT Britain we've been through 2 world wars etc we'll be fine" and give up when you ask *why* they want to return things to a period before they were born. The ones who, when challenged on anything, play a victim card about "Oh I'm the bad guy, I've got a mortgage and a job and a family" and mentally draw some sort of connecting line between themselves and these toffs who might pose for a pint with them but would rather die than send their kids to the same schools.

In short it's those who take what they say at face value.

I vaguely recall that one of the early SinDex strips actually has a little bubble explaining this very reference, as least it did in the DC-printed collections. Not going to dig them out to check mind.

Books & Comics / Re: Whats everyone reading?

You're still reading fast enough to keep up with the series.

I just finished off We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson. Wasn't sure where it was going and had my suspicions but a very enjoyable read with one of the more interesting
unreliable narrators
.

Next up, Children of Old Leech - a collection of short stories in the vein of weird horror writer Laird Barron, who I think is the heir to Lovecraft and is also a much better actual writer when you get down to it.

(Previously read Artemis - so-so. Main character is like Mark but obnoxious and some of the details really stretch the internal consistency, e.g. Airlock usage)

We rewatched TFA and I am really hoping that the vision of Ren and the (I assume) Knights of Ren on the rainy planet come to pass. Those guys look dorky cool and I fear they won't be around as my gut feeling is they were at best Snoke's bodyguards
that got chopped up
, and that originally that vision is supposed to be when Luke's academy was destroyed - which it can't be because in the vision they're all in the full costume.

Bright - as with others, pleasantly surprised that this wasn't terrible but instead fairly trashy fun. As mentioned elsewhere I enjoyed that this wasn't Shadowrun (Magic has appeared in the mundane) but instead a world where all of the fantasy and fantasy racism has always been part of the world.

I'm the opposite of whatever the Daily Mail is, always.

That carries on through to blue ****ing passports. Never have I struggled to censor a swearword more on this board.

That was a must-watch for me, but it'd be forever king of TV if they'd had firearms and explosives on HOW

Alot of adjusting to do after 4 years of living in Richmond Upon Thames (I hate those 1980s pacer trains when I have to go to the office in Salford!) but it's nice. Be nicer still if the weather was dryer but that time of year ;)

Still need to go to the trades, still need to try and get some local RPG/Boardgaming going. But got the prog ordered in at 2Tone comics, and got a puppy who I took for a walk up Hardcastle Craggs, so pretty nice. He even came with us to Cafe Solo and behaved pretty well. So far the major activity in town is going to the picture house, which is a truly lovely venue to see Paddington 2 in (and got to see Taika Watiti's Boy there as well, a movie I probably wouldn't have seen otherwise). Wish the wife drank so I could spend some time in the pubs and Drink  :D

Its way better than any of the prequels, so the ship of 'Ruined star wars' sailed a long time ago....

One thing about Star Wars is that yes, it's just a movie, but take it away from Star Wars and it becomes a really bad movie rather than a fun but flawed one.

Dishonoured 2 - it's good, love the world building, can never get over how easy it is to just moider everyone. The powers allow a lot of fun but honestly don't need them if I'm on a good murder spree. Tend to play stealthy/non-murderous just to add a bit of challenge. Not really using any power other than Far Reach to swing around like spiderman.

I am a little confused by just how much everyone loves it, but it was just ok in my books with a lot of flaws (mainly in the superfluous plot that takes up 70% of the screen time, the continued retread of a past movie - Empire this team - and the 'twist' with Luke at the end that's completely undermined in the next minute). As much as I enjoyed stuff like the X-Wing taking on the capital ship, it set the tone for empty spectacle that continued throughout (e.g. the millenium falcon, one ship, is now able to distract an entire fleet's worth of air support)
