Just checked on Amazon and Dredd Blu Ray is now ranked #17 and DVD is #59 in "Film & TV"... Not bad work at all, but it may be pretty difficult getting it into the top 10 with the likes of Fast & Furious 6, Star Trek Into Darkness and Iron Man 3 hogging the top spots

Back on topic (I think, I haven't read the first page), I built some shit for a Google ad a couple of weeks ago, using wood, elastic and fishing line.  My creations are the spinning YouTube hits counter, the blue basket, and the pop-up icon (operated by hidden catapult) behind it.
Being an artist, teacher and general wuss-about-town, I haven't done anything quite as manly as this in years.  Not since I worked in a metal foundry anyway (and even then I had to quit because of back pains).

Quality bit of man stuff there, Mr Christ. I also worked in a foundry many years ago as a school summer holidays job. My job title was "Shit Shoveller". Pretty much exactly as it sounds, sweeping up all the waste metal and crud from the floor of the furnace area. The guys used to laugh at my "white hands" and general lack of manliness in any way - but it was all jolly banter. I got paid £3 an hour. I saved up and bought a bike, which was stolen 2 months later... Happy days...

A kind person at work donated me the Megs, so I have it, but it's annoying it's not in the Case Files. No doubt I shall acquire it as a TPB sometime, because my bookshelf completist nature won't be able to stand it without it :)

I have bought The Dead Man and America as those are the two stories that I know are missing.

I didn't realise America wasn't included. CCF 15 advertises having stories from Meg 1.01 to 1.10, where America ran, so I always assumed it was included. But, having checked BARNEY, you are absolutely right.

So why isn't America included? Is it set in the Dredd universe, but not officially Dredd (I haven't read it, in case you can't tell :D). Means when I get halfway through CCF 15, I shall have to stop and read America - which I will have to buy separately...

So I've learnt something today - thanks for starting the thread Anzati

All of the above and here's a link to an online life model site.

filip

That's a really interesting site, flip. I've only just got back into drawing really recently and have mixed copying with "making stuff up" (for want of a better phrase). I was always really bad at humans when I was a kid and a teen, preferring more geometric shapes, like machinery, but I'm forcing myself to tackle this.

So as a total novice, how should I, or GJD, or anyone approach this site? Start in "class" mode, or "standard"" mode? 10 minutes? 2 minutes? What would you advise?

Thanks...

The first proper drawing I did in about 25 years is over on this month's art comp. However, this is the first hack I had with a pencil. I did it a few weeks ago after I got a piece of original art from Leigh Gallagher's Defoe and had a go at copying one of the zombie's expressions. I then put in the monster thing and the water...

So I'm going to buck the trend a bit here. Firstly, because I'm not doing Rogue - I've gone for the finest Finley-Day creation to grace the Prog... Harry 20! Secondly, because I haven't drawn anything in probably 25-30 years - so - with a bit of encouragement from Skullmo - I thought "Why not pick up a pencil and give it a go".

So I found a pencil I got from a conference, a rubber shaped like a star from my son's art box and a bit of paper that Paul Marshall wrapped some art he sent me in (hence the big ink stain in the top-left hand corner!) and about 10 hours later produced this... I keep tinkering with it, so am forcing myself to stop by posting it now. Sorry it's a crap photo - it's a bit dark down our way :)

Originally drawn on two seperate pages, before being bought together by the magic of computing.

My computing is slightly less magic, but I've fudged it together as best I can. If you want to see the original pages as they were drawn, check the "Additional Images" on the CAF page

I don't think I explained this very well. Let me try again. The Judges, cits and cityscape were all drawn on one sheet of A3. Borisenko's evil head was drawn on another sheet of A3. Ben then bought the two images together by computer, and I have done is a far more hacked way.

Sorry for any confusion...

Well.... Go on then ;) You've bagged some crackers already. I'm pretty new back myself, and have enjoyed Shakara and Anderson Complete Case Files, as well as some Dredds like Day of Chaos and Origins.

Welcome
