QuoteWill scan pencils in work today to hopefully start tidying up and inking on the PC tonight (obviously dependant on baby distrupting plans ;))

animes, I was and am in the same boat this month and only directed my art attentions on one picture that took a good month to do. Pencils are my first medium so they took all the fresh learning curve pressures off me. I could go to the picture in coffee breaks. And between heavily pregnant wife guardian duties to the most extremely intense experience life has to offer (and it is a doozy ;)) I could fit it in around the compressed timetable but it also helped take a step back and evaluate my own being for the duration too.

Post natal, I did some more but when penciling became too much of an impossibility with the entry deadline looming it had to be finished in PC which is where I'd have cleaned it up anyway.

Bonno Fortuna to you and yours!

Thank you very much Hoagy!! This is number 3 now so pressure not quite as intense but still a bit stressed. Anyway I have got 3 days to go so reckon I can pull something out of the bag (I am referring to my drawing now not wife and baby by the way!!) ;)

amines2058 just make your mark..regardless of how unfinished/finished it is just throw it on in there. Best of Luck with the baby.....sleeping with your boots on ??!!

Martintds thanks for the kind comments, and I actually managed to sit down for an hour last night and layout some rough pencils which I am quite happy with. Will scan pencils in work today to hopefully start tidying up and inking on the PC tonight (obviously dependant on baby distrupting plans ;))

Way to late, but I now finally have an idea, but do I have the time??
Wife due to have baby imminently (Due next Wed!) hence lots of panicking and final prep and not a lot of time to sit and sketch.
I will try my best, as have missed the past 2 months comps now and am not happy!!  :(

Books & Comics / Re: No more Comic Heroes

Perhaps I should take back my comment on being overpriced  :-[ not having been a devout reader I only based my view on what I percieve I can afford on a monthly basis, with this being out of my personal price range.
I am still sad to see it go though as I would be with any British comic based publication.  :(

Sad to see it go, but I always felt it had overpriced itself from the start £8 then £10 was always going to be out of my budget I am afraid.
Especially when you consider that you can buy some of the Trades they probably advertised and reviewed for a similar price of less than the magazine e.g. Judge Dredd CF1 or Watchmen £10.49 new on Amazon at present

No Twilight sexy vamps in this my friend.
This episode reminded me a lot of
Fringe crossed with Mimic, one of his earlier films in both story and setting plus the fact that the story centres around CDC characters.
The vampires we speak of are more along the lines of deranged monsters. Think more
zombies crossed with Alien
.

New series just started on Fox in the US based on Guillermo Del Toro's Novels of the same name. Watched feature length episode 1 last night (also directed by Del Toro) and enjoyed. Basically a slightly different take on the Vampire story with enough gore and mystery to keep me intrigued for episode 2. Plus some good effects throughout considering it is TV fodder. Not ground breaking but another interesting addition to the rapidly growing TV horror genre.  :)

Decided to get caught up for the apparently brilliant Dawn of.... By checking out Rise of the Planet of the Apes, which I'd never seen.

Really impressed. Lovely to see a big blockbuster that a) is built around character relationships instead of a convoluted, thrown-together plot and b) actually EARNS its big action finale (that feels refreshingly small-scale).

Overall a superbly-judged film that is far better than it has any right to be, very much deserving of the high regard it's held in. I'm totally jazzed for the sequel which by all accounts is even better.

A very solid 4/5.

I completely agree with all of this. I did the same last week and watched Rise which I had missed first time around, in preparation of Dawn. So glad I did as it was probably one of the better movies I had seen this year.  :)

Yoinks!! - Got posh new bike on weekend (early 40th present off wife) so went out and had a cracking bike ride wallowing in the glory of said bikes finery.

Bah!! - However good a bike is it still does not prevent stiff legs and a sore arse the next day!

Oooh that's a toughie! Will try and get something in for this month as missed the past 2. It is just what to do??? Does anyone have any links to the Johnny Alpha spread mentioned by CCFM for inspiration?

Oh well saw the final episode and thoroughly enjoyed. Saw the one twist coming from about 3 episodes ago but still thoroughly enjoyed this series and look forward to some more. What more can you want, horror, sex violence and gratuitous swearing all wrapped up in an enjoyable story.

Another great month for entries  :D and another month that I failed to do an entry  :( (I will have to try to complete my doodles and add them to the 'Art' thread!)

Anyway onto the important stuff!

1 - Martintds after Carlos Ezquerra - Amazing art and I thought that this truly grasped the concept of this months theme.
2 - Allistermac after Colin Macneil - Great interpretation of a classic scene with brilliant detail.
3 - Archie after Mike MacMahon - Looked like it could have been lifted from the prog the classic Angel Gang!

HM - Garyodart after Ron Smith - Again great detail in the artwork and kept with the theme of the comp.
Hoagy after Simon Bisley - What can I say I love the ABC Warriors, I love Joe and I love the Biz!

Music / Re: What's everyone listening to...?
02 July, 2014, 05:47:27 AM
Am in work early so am currently sat listening to Massive Attack - Blue Lines for about the 5th time in 3 days. Was gutted they were not televised at Glasto so just needed to reminisce.
This is still a classic album and has stood the twist of time. It still sounds like it could have been released last week not 23 years ago!! :o
