Welcome to the board / Re: Is this thing on?

Welcome Echidna. I don't know about subscribing as such, but get the weekly prog habit in whatever way suits  :)  Just get the prog (and Meg). As good now as it's ever been.

True, and I'd love to see 50 piled-up progs each Wednesday in WH Smith's when I pop in for my weekly prog (and monthly Meg). Thing is, the grumpies I encounter are all of shaving age. They are poring over tattoo and hi-fi mags, which in turn makes me wait awhile. 'Are they reading the whole mag?' I ask myself, sometimes aloud if the mood takes me.

Callow youths picking up the prog on high street, not something I can see happening. Picking it up digitally because their Facebook 'friends' suggest it, perhaps. How can I feel so old when I have all my own teeth?

Nice, that's a lot of Dan across 2 volumes. Highlight has to be Belardinelli  :)

Looks really cool, I'm sold. Can't help but make Black Mirror comparisons, especially given the lead actor!

My favourite Black Mirror episode, too. Same actor, well-spotted  :)

Off Topic / Re: What are you dunking into what?

Never dunked a biscuit (maybe a trial run once or twice a long time ago). Forgot it was even a thing.

I'd equate dunking with the act of falling over in the street, then styling it out to pretend you meant it all the time...

No Special in my WH Smith's either... tense, nervous headache?  :)

Books & Comics / Re: How do you read your comic?
28 October, 2014, 03:03:45 PM
I'm always front-to-back, that includes all content. The prospect of jumping around the contents makes me feel a bit agitated  :)

Sidebar: I am ALWAYS shocked at people's quoted reading speeds. Last couple of progs have taken almost an hour each. Prog-slog, still 45 mins. I'm not especially thick, but in my "thorough" reading (slog aside, I never re-read strips), am I doing it wrong ?  :)
Someone in a recent Nerve Centre had read, oh, 100 progs in a week (I think). To me, that's bonkers. Don't think it's a boast; seems to be considered normal.

This first read-through (often in the car, or while walking) is sometimes unsatisfying, especially when there are dense rewarding strips like Stickleback or good Future Shocks to be had, and I find the second more leisurely read (often in bed, bath or shed) is the real test of Proggly quality and pays the most dividends - this one is always done cover-to-cover.

I assume you aren't driving... how do you read while walking???

And who apologises when you walk into the kiddiwinks in the street, head-down in Facebooksville?

I note the little pictures with the characters names...
I sometimes wish some of the modern thrills would do that as it can be hard to keep track when there is a large cast, some of whom only appear occasionally and hardly ever get referred to by name by other characters.

Image seem to be doing this recently, a nice retro touch that really helps, especially in monthly books. Tharg's page 2 recap in the prog is handy too.

Look like Brendan to me as well. You might well consider some quick concept art to be rougher and not exactly progworthy, it was never intended for publication after all.

In FP the other day I was in several minds about Phase One. Utter bargain at the knock-down price of 15 quid and looks beautiful. Can't quite justify buying a story I already have. But those Rebellion pushers are turning the screw these days..... as TB said somewhere, this will sell by the bucketload.

Benedict Cumberbatch has officialy been cast for Doctor Strange. Discuss.

Have not managed to watch a Marvel movie right through.... possibly ever. But a well-made Doctor Strange - with the right effects - and limited guest appearances, could be OK.

Also, is he spreading himself a bit thin? He'll be Doctor Who next at this rate...  ::)

After a refreshing Google, seems it's generally 'basket' or 'woven'. Like it a lot, has an unusual quality to it that keeps the picture interesting...

Thanking for linking to these, entertaining...
Funny, these characters never get the 8% satisfaction you might expect.

Who'll be the first to post a question?  :)
