Angel. I vaguely remember the title alone, but nothing else.

Puts Tharg's embarrassment of riches these days into context. No quick filling of pages now (it seems), plenty of droids eager to get published who need to wait in line. That's the perception anyway, from this spotty reader at least.

I was thinking the baldy X-Men professor?  :)

Hm, is Curs-ed Earth the "heart" of the character? (Possibly my favourite epic and hate  :) myself at picking it up yet again when there was no need). Mills did say recently it's an anomaly with the rest of Dredd, as he's the straight-ahead Hero, Saving the Day ("winning" wars and busting perps, he's usually a right Bastard, albeit-entertaining...).

Newbie talent welcome.

S'making a funny, innit? The perennial 'exposure' gag?

Clearly tongue-in-cheek, yup.

Thanks BPP. Premise held no interest for me and nice to have my dull prejudices confirmed  :)

Just terrific, IATS.

Burnham did draw a decent Dredd, by Tharg I think...

Hm, I didn't mind Junker but that could be more to do with the art and the strip's relative quality in the prog at the time.

Wireheads made my brain hurt and I flipped past it. That's extremely rare.

'Cal-Hab is Fucking Shit'

I hope you mean the cliche-rich crap-fest Dredd series.

General / Re: How did you discover Judge Dredd?

My mate had a copy of 181 and once seen, I bought my own. That was that.

It also meant my first Dredd was the final part of the Judge Child ("Part 26" ?!), and a Ron Smith centre-spread that blew my mind. Brian Bolland's centre-spread the following week continued the damage. McMahon's Aggro Dome punched me in the face the next week. Happy days.

2000ad fans use Robusters as a palette cleanser between re-readings of Proust

Made me snort  :)

(Not that type of palate, though)

As to the lack of purchase of Dredd in the US, I dunno. Definitely not intelligence, but perhaps the saturation coverage of superheroes and US product means they needn't look further afield for yet more? The scale of the US does weird things to their sense of perspective and global interests (possibly US boarders will claim otherwise).

My other thought about IDW's woeful Dredd is that if TB Grover wrote the thing it'd fly, that's it's just script quality. But Wagner/Grant wrote Legends... in the 90's and though I have the issues I can't remember how they read (and it's highly probable I never did get around to read them).

It would be a good way to celebrate the milestone, much better than Tharg giving us another micro prog to cut out and keep*.

I'd settle for a new space spinner...

Do you promise to take better care of it this time?

Glad I cocked a snook at this thread early (spoilers aren't a big deal I find).
Well done Tharg on nabbing Christian Ward, the quality covers with only occasional blips keep coming  :)
Miss his regular book though (ODY-C), which has been dormant a few months now  :(

The desired compendium (what a horrible word, too) wouldn't have 'seamless' stories, anyway; 5/6 page episodes stitched together with logos/captions removed that don't quite flow properly.

Picking up on things quickly in a monthly US book is arguably a memory feat and not ideal either.

I'm confused. They already put out collected editions with stories 'stitched together with logos removed'. Of course they flow properly.  And they put out US monthly comic versions of various titles from the Prog. What are you saying here?

I read the Ichabod US reprint issues recently (they're wonderful). Every fifth page ends on a cliff-hanger of sorts. You see the joins, to varying degrees. It's a characteristic and not always detrimental. But it's not seamless.
Not difficult to understand.
