BLAIR 1.

Obviously.

Black Museum.

But not because it's great - it isn't- but Realm of the Damned has got to be the most unpleasant strip ever published by Tharg. It took the Megazine in a direction I'd really prefer it would avoid.

Timequake

But more on the strength of its appearances in Starlord rather than 2000AD.

Harmony.

Shame there wasn't anymore.

I think the Prog is pretty good right now.

It's certainly no where near the 90's nadir.

The art has always been great.

It has always relied on a small number of writers. Back in the "golden days" you could easily have had three strips in a Prog by Wagner and / or Grant. And one by Mills. And one by Finlay Day or Tom Tully. It's not that much different to how it is now.

I also think there is a huge amount of nostalgia is attached to how the golden age is viewed. I am currently re-reading a strip I would easily have put in my top ten in Ace Trucking and to be honest it's actually not that great. For a comedy strip it's just not that funny. And the action is just ok. And I'm on the better stories before it lost its way. But the art is amazing.

I have branched out other comics now such as Shift, The77 and Spacewarp and for my money none of them come close to 2000AD.

Dean Stockwell did a really brilliant performance as the villain in the re-boot of Battlestar Galactica.

Sad news. In weird timing I finished my re-watch of the noughties BSG last night. It says a lot for him, that amongst a great cast he stood out, despite not having loads of screen time compared to some. He pretty much stole every scene in was in.

The art on Freaks is top notch. Can't remember much about the story so my vote goes to movie Dredd.

You're right- it doesn't make any sense to link ST and BS.

Can you remind me what the explanation was in Brass Sun?

Nobody going to mention the fact that the baby in Scarlet Traces has the same name as
the main protagonist of one of Ian Edginton's other stories
?

The great Crisis in the Infinite Edgverse gets nearer...

Yeah I did spot that and thought about it for a bit
as in is the Earth in Scarlet Traces now meant to be the one in Brass Sun? And indeed the whole solar system. But given that's clock work one, I don't see how that works. And so I rejected that notion. Unless ST is headed in the direction of explaining how the clock work solar system came about. :-\
Dash Decent.

The best single page comedy strip ever in the Prog. Plus great O'Neill art.

We need more strips like this.

The Diaboliks was brilliant this week as we shift scenes (and artist as Dom Reardon is back) and the tone moves with it. Its still dark, but this has more of a comedic edge and Jake's return is very welcome. Fantastic stuff.

Can you remind who Jake is?

This the first time I've done a Prog review in a few months and it's another Regened this week.

Queue the usual moaning elsewhere on 'tinters.

Personally I think they work and if results in a few collected edition sales, what's not to like.

Cadet Dredd isn't the best we've seen but there is some nice art by one of my personal favourites, Ben Willsher.

There are two news stories Scooter and Jinx and Enemy Earth. Neither is that exciting, both suffering from being too heavily focused on setting up there worlds. Scooter and Jinx is another James Peaty story set on a space station....hmmm.

The Time Twister is kinda fun, if a little light.

Strontium Dug was fun.

Anyway, having read it I'm now going to hand it over to my son. Which is actually the point.
