Zenith is a top five 2000AD thrill for me, so this is an easy

5 nil victory for Morrison.

I don't read any of his stuff outside of 2000AD so that all means nothing to me (oh Vienna).

As for not seeing it as rip off of Alan Moore, one reason for that is that I didn't read any of his non Prog stuff until years later. And frankly I much prefer Zenith to say Watchmen.

The Simping Detective is just one of the best stories ever in the Meg, probably tied for first place with a couple of Dabnett's.

Not so keen on the rest (apart from Trifecta).

Michael Carroll is one of the best modern Dredd writers, albeit not at Wagner level.
Do love Dreadnoughts and Proteus Vex.

Rory's early Dredds seem to have some good ideas but then seemed to skip forward to a bunch of captions like you get at the end of some films explaining what happened to the characters. He seems to have taken on board the "feedback" on that and now actually tells the story.

Department K is promising and is enjoyably entertaining.

But It's Robbie Morrison: Dante, Shakara, Bendatti Vendetta. But Shimura did nothing for me.

Overall, given my voting record going to have to go

I have previously cast doubt on the interest of children in 2000AD.

I now take it all back. My eleven year old son has now read the lastest Regened issue and loved it.

Loved it so much he asked me if there were any more. So I have now dug out all the previous Regnened issues and given them to him.

He particularly liked Cadet Dredd, Strontium Dog, Rogue Trooper and Pandora Perfect.

I am planning on weaning him into Full Tilt Boogie and Department K in the full Prog. Plus the current Chimpski story should also be suitable.

So yeah....a big hit...belatedly.

Some of Rennie's stuff doesn't really do much for me: Missionary Man, The 86ers. And I don't really remember which Dredds are his. But his good stuff is pretty great: Jaegir, Callablistics, Absalom, Cursed Earth Koburn, Survival Geeks.

So yeah it's Rennie for me. Let's say 4-1.

Looking at the list of what Tom Tully wrote, I am quite surprised - I thought it was more. Back in the day, he seemed like the go to guy for no nonsense weekly thrills that do what they say on the tin.

But it's Wagner.

A difficult one for me. I'm really not a big fan of John Smith; he has a bunch of great ideas but I just find it really hard to follow what is going on. For that reason Indigo Prime and Revere are amongst my least favourite 2000AD thrills. But they made enough of an impact for me to consider them on my least favourites list, as opposed to stuff that wasn't that memorable and I've just forgotten. I did like Firekind though. I recently re-read Cinnebar and it was only ok - I don't get why it's often held up as the best ever Rogue Trooer story.


I grew to like Survivial Geeks, but I have no idea how much Emma wrote and how much Gordon wrote.
I didn't particularly like Emma's Anderson.

I only vaguely remember Steve Moore's future shocks, but if they are the ones I think they are, a couple were brilliant.

But mostly on the basis of Peter Hogan's version of Robo-Hunter, Timehouse and Zaucer of Zilk, I'm going to score this:
