Good taste there.

Welcome aboard and have fun.

Got any recommendations outside of the prog that would fit my tastes?

my childhood 2000AD was actually in the 90s ... Rogue Trooper (which coincidently I've never been particularly into)

I get the feeling these two statements are related in some way, but I can't quite make the connection. Welcome, and congratulations on having chosen the best forum name, anywhere, ever.

Hah - I think I just missed out on that Rogue prog - my first issue when picking up the prog semi-regularly was 1005. I don't think it is hailed as one of the golden eras.. I remember being pretty young and being embarrassed by the amount of flesh on display in Nikolai Dante. Possibly not the best for an 8 year old.... but hey I came back!

Books & Comics / Re: Saga

My second post on here.. probably won't add much to the mix.. but I love Saga. I am one of those people telling everyone I know to get involved. Like everyone has said, it's difficult to pinpoint why, but I'll give it a go:

1. The art is stunning. Staples is possibly my favourite artist at the moment.
2. The characters are awesome, as well as looking awesome - I find the dialogue witty, fast-paced, emotive etc. etc. I care about Marco and Alana and I want to know what happens to them.
3. Not wanting to give spoilers, but whenever virtually anyone on the "good" side dies, I feel emotion for them and the characters around them. Very rarely have comics actually done this for me.
4. The world Vaughan has created is fantastical, yet believable at the same time, though the seemingly down to earth characters and their familiar traits.
5. Lying cat is a don.

I just love it. And yeah I probably got into it because of all the hype. But I don't care because for me it lives up to the hype.

For similar reasons, I went out yesterday specifically to get the 1st issue of Kirkman's Outcast. It's been massively hyped as well - here's hoping it's just as good (not that they are particularly comparable).

I really wanted to join in some of the discussions reviewing the progs and megs.. I think I need to prove that I am worthy of such privileges somehow?

Welcome to the board / New to the Forum..

So I'm new to the 2000AD forum... been lurking in the background reading other people's posts so I thought I would join up.

I've been a 2000AD subscriber since prog 1781.. so only a few years now. I picked it up to try and rekindle my childhood love for it. Although I realised my childhood 2000AD was actually in the 90s alongside some pretty questionable ideas like the 'Sex Issue'.

Anyway, I can only say it's a load better now than I remember. I caught the tail end of the proceedings of Chaos Day and have been meaning to head back to read it from the beginning. I have to say reading Trifecta in the progs and witnessing the moment when they meshed was probably the best feeling I've had from reading comics.

Some other new favourites other than of course Dredd are Brass Sun, The Ten Seconders, Indigo Prime and pretty much anything that is based in the Dredd-world. I also loved the new strips from the most recent jumping on prog. I have seen a fair amount of negativity about Outlier on here but I enjoyed it! I especially loved Jaegir -being on the other side of Rogue Trooper (which coincidently I've never been particularly into) was great. I have to say though I'm not a big fan of Slaine but I think this is because I've not read any of his previous outings so there isn't much to grasp on to other than the incredible artwork. Anything written by Rob Williams has also been golden for me. Ordinary in the Meg was awesome and have been meaning to check out his recent 'Royals Masters of War'.

Anyway, enough babbling.

Hello!!
