Here's my entry for the comp in one of the toughest months in ages. I couldn't think of an appropriately epic way for Dredd to die, but instead I thought what with all the talk of Rico taking over from Dredd when he does take the long walk in the sky, it would be quite neat to have the classic scene from prog 30(?) of Dredd carrying Rico reversed:

I have re-arranged my top 3 several times, really tough one this month. Well done to everyone, amazing standard.

3. Adrian Bamforth: Halo, Space Pirate

HM Karl Brown: Her Name Was Halo
HM Uwe de Witt: Halo Jones

I'm pretty sure this isn't a licensed product, which is a shame, because I'd love one of these:

Incredibly high bar this month. Well done to everyone who entered, including Pete (I chuckled).

1. Brian Corocoran - Chopper - It's got everything, Chopper out manouvering Dredd, an awsome MC1 backdrop. Just lovely.
2. Mark Higgins - Chopper - The realism of this is breathtaking, you can feel the speed of the board
3. Andy Lambert2 - Flight to the Death! - I want to read this story. Now.

HM Uwe de Witt4 - Chopper
HM Stephen Baskerville - Marlon Shakespeare, Bard of the Board!
HM james newell - Midnight Surfer
HM Adrian Bamforth - Chopper

I feel a bit embarrassed posting this given the quality this month!

I started this at the beginning of the month but never got round to finishing it off. It didn't help that every day someone seemed to be uploading something AMAZING to the comp. Good luck everyone!

I know it's been said, but...

N E M E S I S !

So DTM cover means subscribers get something else on the cover, right? Not sure how I feel about that...

What a month!

1 - MikeD - Apocalypse! - A mega epic of a drawing. Love all the bullet lines zinging all over the shop.
2 - James Dilworth - Kazan - Dilworth's artwork is consistently brilliant.
3 - Splendidhand - Back to the Streets - Really graphic and striking image.

HM Allistermac
HM Neil McClements
HM IAMTHESYSTEM

Cheers to CFM.

"Request Denied"

I always thought the button Dredd presses to destroy the Sovs wasn't big enough so I've enbiggened it.

Having picked up the Meg for the first time in a year or so for the Rico story I have to admit I was surprised at the overall quality of the issue. If it keeps up I'll keep buying once the Rico story concludes.

I can't believe no one's mentioned Dredd's helmet being found charred. Surely this means he can't have been teleported out?

My only gripe is one with both the Meg and the Prog, that there's a lack of exposition (o Thargnotes) in either. I have no idea who Kobourn is, or Rico for that matter. Like a lot of readers I've had my years away from 2000ad and it's bloody confusing when a character reappears with the same name (Rico) without any explanation. He turned up at the end of Chaos Day and I was utterly confused. Yeah, you can Google this stuff, but when Kobourn turns up there's not a single line explaining who he is, not great for a cross-over issue.

What an amazing month. Having picked the theme I think I'm the only person who failed to actually draw Nemesis. Whoops!

1 Simon Prime - Nemesis vs Torquemada - Artwork worthy of a prog cover, bold, beautiful and full of action.
2 MikeD - Thorny Nemesis - No idea what's going on here but the drawing is lovely.
3 Andy Lambert1 - Khaos Theory - Could have picked either of Andy's beautifully executed drawings this month, but I was drawn to the more serious of the two.

HM Leigh S - A Bedtime Story
HM Andy Lambert2 - Corpse Ride
HM Steven Denton - Nemesis Leaps Into Action

Also, if someone in merchandising would licence Nemesis the Doorlock I would buy one in an instant...

Nemesis's Nemesis!

Some cracking drawings this month, it's going to be a tough one.

Am I the only one that's REALLY pissed off that this Dredd cliffhanger is continued in the magazine?

You're not the only one. I wouldn't mind buying the Meg if it was anywhere near the quality of it's original launch, but it's patch at best.

There will be a temporary disgruntled sales spike then it will slump back to where it was.

I make a point of folding my prog in half as soon as it arrives so it will never be in mint condition. That way I find it easier to put it in the recycling and not to hoard them.

I don't care if
Dredd is dead or not
. At the end of prog 1976 I was left feeling disappointed that Dredd had suffered yet another life threatening bleed-out (wasn't there one only a few weeks ago) that would be fixed in the nick of time. How boring I thought, they'd never let him die, there's no jeopardy in the story.
Then they only go and blow him up
.

Bloody brilliant! No build up at all, it really was an unexpected twist and it made my week.

Also, I think I may be the only one, but I'm really rather enjoying Tainted. The rude bike is excellent.

Rest of the prog - meh. I wouldn't complain if someone killed off Aquila.

Great month all round. Really lovely selection of drawings in different styles, very hard to pick.

1. Jon - Warp Spasm
2. Andy Lambert - Tharg the Mystical
3. IAMTHESYSTEM - 2000 BC

HM allistermac - Slaine
HM Steven Denton2 - Renegade Templar
HM Leigh Shepherd - Feg & Mebd

Really honourable mentions should go to anyone who started a drawing after seeing Jon's masterpiece. Quite daunting putting up artwork next to something of that standard.
