General / Re: FEBRUARY ART COMP - RESULTS THREAD

Blimey, I feel genuinely humbled, the standard here is just so high. Also, thanks to Andy for splitting his vote, I don't think I'd of got a look in otherwise, I'd have happily seen his entries in first, second and third places.

I don't suppose someone on here could give me Andy and Steven 'proper' forum profiles with pictures and stuff?

Thanks to everyone who voted, I hope you enjoy the theme for March...

Amazing overall standard, really hard to vote on.

General / Re: What's a typical 2000AD deadline?

I thought the exact same thing when I read Nick's schedule. I'd find it hard to believe that the budget for comics would allow a full month for 6 pages of artwork now, though. It would be really interesting to know what the current deadlines are like.

I'm glad I hadn't seen Andy's Creature vs Klegg before I started this or I don't think I'd have bothered.

That wasn't easy. Amazing overall standard, I'm going to have to try a LOT harder next month...

Thank you SpaceGhost for the reading list, I've read a few of the Dreads, but haven't touched any of the others.

I think I gave up when the masthead got really really ugly. I've been enjoying the recent run of stories though, it feels like 2000AD has got it's mojo back.

...actually it might be a bit longer, it's hard to tell. At some point in the late 90s I stopped buying 2000AD. I was completely up to speed until then, but for whatever reason I stopped. Sorry. I occasonally dipped in and out but copies became harder and harder to find in newsagents. I started subscribing again just over a year ago, so that leaves a pretty sizeable gap to cover.

So, what did I miss? What are the best stories of, let's say 2000-2010 that I should track down to read in collected format? What are the un-missable classics of the naughties?

General / Re: Henry Flint is a legend really, isn't he?

For me what I find staggering about Henry Flint is how he makes it all look so easy. There is a sketchy quality to the inks that belies carful composition and fantastic story telling underneath. Also, fantastic hands and feet.

Easily my favourite 2000AD artist working at the moment.

Blimey, is the standard here normally this high?

There's quite a few entries here that are a higher standard than a lot of 2000AD prog covers.

I think extra points go to anyone who tackled Fear as in my opinion he's the most difficult to get looking scary. I mean, he's got toaster for a face.

Welcome to the board / Hello!

The art competition brought me here (although CrazyFoxMachine kindly posted my entry for me while I was being incredibly impatient waiting to be approved). Looking forward to having something to motivate me to draw at least once a month.
