That's a Bolland cover on prog 1986, unless I'm very much mistaken!  Shown as a teaser for the Dredd Reclamation story on this weeks Thrill Mail.

That is absolutely one of the best Bolland Dredd images I've seen for years.

Don't know quite what it is.. to me, his art has looked rather bland since he went over to digital.  There's just something about this image though, that makes it look more like his art of old...

Love it!

Really enjoyed the PJ Maybe collection and agree with others that Liam Sharp's art is fantastic.  Could Tharg tempt him back, for a guest spot on Dredd..?

Nice prog tharg!

Fabry cover always a treat.

Dredd..interesting development - unexpected and will add another dimension to the tale.

Slaine - what a joke!

Brink - very glad I saved a few episodes and then read in a chunk as I'm up to speed and loving it now.

Black Shuck - always expected to enjoy the artwork but story seems promising too.

Grey Area - good fun stuff.

Strong prog, mighty green one!

Film & TV / Re: Preacher (TV Series)...

Just watched the pilot and I have to say I'm disappointed.

I agree that a direct adaptation would be difficult and that it would suffer from being dated in parts. It does look great, sound good and in some respects feel right...

But I'm not sold on Cooper as Jesse. He strongly gives off this older grizzled world weary vibe whereas Jesse appeared to be (and to some extent was) a rather simplistic young bloke - which made his bizzare and terrible childhood all the more shocking.  His rather stiff and sanctimonious traits were annoying but good characters do get under your skin. The show's Preacher with his dark brooding, is all tried and tested stuff.  His father being a preacher too is lazy I think and robs the show of some of best of the original series with Jesse's GI father.

The show's Tulip just comes across to me as another clichéd kick-ass female cipher I'm afraid. Lecturing the kids about female empowerment whilst making a bazooka out of tin cans! Sorry to be so blunt - but what a load of bollocks! The Tulip in the comic was a far more subtle portrayal of a strong female character I thought.

Cassidy lying in a crater with his guts all around him 15mins after his first appearance was too much too soon.  A bit of mystery around Cassidy and his regenerative powers would have been welcome to start off with. Also, as someone on here has already said Cassidy should appear to be more of a cool, sound bloke - so if he were to let you down or betray you it would hurt - not the rather clownish figure here.

There was a certain wild originality in the comics that made them compelling and exciting.  The show is, well... fairly entertaining but nothing out of the ordinary.

Yes, nice work by the Aus-10 droid.

The Dredd strip's out of control - where's it all going to end...

Read the first 4 episodes of Brink back to back as I found it hard to remember what was happening week to week and I really enjoyed it. It's building a deep sense of emerging menace. The reveal can sometimes be a let down with this type of tale but we'll see.

Suggestion for the Slaine strip, maybe Ukko selling some tickets to the big fight, making snide comments and being clipped round the ear by Slaine might perk it up?

Good to see Grey Area back, especially the scantily clad alien lass!

Don't normally venture down to this part of the forum, perhaps I should...this looks great, just bought the collected GN of issues 1-6.  Love Dowling's art and I wondered where he'd got to.

The Garth Ennis run and the ones in the prison drawn by Richard Corben were just fantastic.
Some of the Azarello run and some of the short stories and one shots were also pretty damn good.  Heartland was superb.

It did seem to loose its way a bit and the Bisley run wasn't great, despite some lovely covers.

But I had no idea that they'd completely shafted him with the dross shown above! Why would DC do that..!?

Arrgggh - no Saturday prog again!

I'll review what I can - cover looks great.

The Bart Dredd one in particular...

Just what I was wondering...

Postie got through in N London and that cover packs a real punch, it's not really my taste in art but it works very well.

Dredd, have to say, that took me by surprise, what on earth are the Brits up to!?  Looking forward to finding out where this is all going. Given the situation though, it will be a while before we can have a few of the more humorous one-shot Dredds that will re-connect us with MC1 and the cits and would be a welcome change from the doom and gloom.

It's always a pleasure to see Simon Davis in the prog but his amazing work is rather wasted on Slaine in my opinion.  It certainly suits a Slaine type story but what is the story being told here..? A fight and some shouting this week.  I'm afraid I totally lost interest in this strip some time ago.

Would be great to see SD do, say, the next outing of 'The Order'.

Tainted is well done and holds my attention, although I wish the dark judges would have a break (a long break) from the prog after this.

Brink looks like an interesting tale.  I can't seem to remember what happened the previous week in this one though, so I'm saving them all up to read in one go.  This will be the first time I've ever done this with the prog...must be my age...sure it says more about me and my (failing) memory than the strip.

Nothing stellar, but enough in the prog to keep me interested

Mega City in Camden, my local had a few left this afternoon. Didn't want to take two in case I deprived another squaxx who popped by.

I think they'd happily sell any left over for a reasonable price and P&P. Give em a call, they're a friendly bunch. Just an idea for those who missed out...

Available to pre-order from the 2000ad shop now...

Wot no bookplate edition?

Wot no super ltd edition signed by all the creators with original sketches by McM and BB?

Wot no poster edition with the cover turned into a signed poster print?

Etc...

I know there's been quite a lot of that sort of thing about recently, and it puts a strain on the groats,  but this is crying out for that treatment.

How can everyone be so calm..?

Dredd may be dead and we may have a change of Tharg! Surely the stiff upper lip must quiver.

Although, I also think the Dredd business is a feint to somehow trick Brit Cit and I didn't really understand the Tharg story either...
