Prog / Re: Prog 2351 - Sam vs The Lawman

Not cracked the subs gift yet but it also came with the prog. Am I being picky or is the design on these a little lacking? Not that it matters really.

Film & TV / Re: Foundation on Apple TV

I was going to post in the current telly thread but thought I'd resurrect this old thread. S2 of Foundation just wrapped up and I say go catch up with it those who have just been pointed at Slow Horses on Apple TV+. The podcast was a great way to keep the momentum going too. For me, it's the complete antidote to Ahsoka's blandness (sorry I'm one of those). Now if only they can resolve the writer's strike we can get on with S3.

Yeah me too! I flip-flopped on whether to stop at 100(?) and then hoped to get back into it just as it gave up the ghost. Still not read all of it.

Prog / Re: Prog 2350 - 2000ad Battle Action*

Brilliant prog! I am not the biggest fan of Battle / Action, but it turned out what was missing was the germ of SF to make the strips exactly what I enjoy reading! 2000AD is known for taking popular themes / other media stories and adding a spin to make a fun new story. Who knew doing that for their own properties would be so successful! More please!

Oh! So the transparent logo was there in an attempt to not rob the cover of its Judge helmet shaped mega-block!

They've at least improved the logo so it's not Clowborn anymore.

I wasn't sure about the Dredd art. I like a Moebius riff as much as the next but they have a way to go. Story was good.

Big fan of spectre, and Dreadnoughts. I feel like we got a Death cover every third issue which is a bit much.

Prog / Prog 2343 - Frozen In Fear
29 July, 2023, 06:21:16 PM
Made time for myself today and read my Saturday Prog.
Dredd is great. Not at all enamoured by Portals & Black Goo. Partly it's the name. Is there a pun there I'm missing? While I'm happy to have Hearne & Shuck back it seems rather a similar vein to what precedes it in the prog and could have been better timed. Hershey is also great, but contrary to the majority of this forum's members, I'm actually enjoying Azimuth most right now. If it had been its own thing it could have been even more but for sheer storytelling and eye candy it wins this prog for me.
Azimuth > Dredd > Hershey > 3riller > Black Goo.

Anyone else have issues with the printing in their copy of Kingdom Vol3?starts about 29 story pages in, and then alternates per spread of pages. Bit off register & smudgy.
I'll chase up Hachette unless they're all the same.

Anyone interested in the answer to this, I asked Foster on IG:
QuoteIt's his Amazing Spider-Man 55 cover. It's not a 1/1 homage, but it was probably the biggest influence on the idea.

Suggestions / Re: Upgrading subscriptions
19 July, 2023, 01:44:10 PM
If you still want the prog to come in the post, and in cardboard sleeves, you can subscribe to it via Forbidden Planet's website. They do charge for postage, but you seem OK with that. My stuff from them is always well packaged.

New shift: seven months after the last, and three months after cover date (April), but it is here and it has Tim Sale goodness.
