Prog / Re: Prog 2039 - Eye in the Sky!

Yes, Brink and Grey Area are the clear standouts in this prog. I really like the way that Grey Area is going, clearly we're building up to something, but the individual episodes are complete and satisfying on their own.

Defoe seems to have decided to become a 17th century Marshal Law at the end of the series. Hmmm.

I am enjoying the prog at the moment and look forward to it dropping through the letterbox, but it has suffered from having too many long-running stories recently. More unexpected one or two-parters would provide welcome novelty.

Political thread is spilling out, again.  ::)

My apologies.

I'll head back there, humming "O Canada".

150 years since the founding of the dominion. A beacon of sanity, tolerance and multi-culturism in a chaotic world. It's not perfect, but at least they seem to know which direction they should be heading in.

I'll stick on some Neil Young, Leonard Cohen or Arcade Fire to celebrate.

Like you, I keep an eye on ABVs and this often leads me to tend towards "session" beers of 2-3.5%, so that I can enjoy a couple on a weekday evening. A strong beer is nice once in a while, but some pubs only seem to stock that stuff.

And you have to wonder what the point is. The features of Watchmen that make it great are intrinsic to its medium.

*(as I've just realised was more eloquently stated by Jim above)

I had a bottle of Wild Beer Co's Wild Goose Chase last night with my curry and it was excellent. That brewery seems to produce consistently wonderful beers.

I see that it's on the Tuesday. I'm planning on heading down for the fringe the weekend before but I'll stick around for the Thargs if I can wangle a longer stay.

Reading the new Lawless book, I only just realised Kill a Man Jaroo is a pun on Kilimanjaro.

I see that David Bishop and Steve MacManus are appearing at this year's Edinburgh Book Fest:

Initially I thought that it was set in Dredd's future, but that would render the many, many plotlines about the possible collapse of MC1/the Judge system rather pointless.

It makes absolutely no sense in the Dredd continuity. It would have been better off as its own thing.

It is rather good, though, and led on to the wonderful Lawless.

Some other comic art covers that I've got somewhere in my music collection.

Daniel Clowes' cover for Thee Headcoats:

According to Sky News, Sadiq Khan's already calling the incident at Finsbury Park 'a terrorist attack', which seems a little premature given the fairly moderate reporting so far. Might yet be a disgruntled fuckwit rather than a ideologically-motivated one.
