You have to remember that Garth Ennis was in his early to mid 20s when he wrote for 2000 AD, so he can be forgiven for some substandard strips now and then.

It's not like he's grown up since then.

It's that kind of thinking that got the Labour party where it is today.

Well, if I haven't broken any rules, I shall carry on in my own merry way! Hasn't the stock market done well since the referendum.

The FTSE100 and, to a lesser extent, the FTSE250 report in dollars. The tanking of the pound has been entirely to their benefit. If you're not a multi-national then it has been extremely painful.

I can't help but think that you've had this explained to you before, though.

One for me as well. I'm really looking forward to reading these again. It deserves to be ranked among the best things to have appeared in the prog.

The Telegraph piece was actually worse for a while.

Absolutely horrific, particularly in the wake of the murder of Jo Cox. I'm not a fan of heavy regulation of the press but there needs to be some comeback for publishing material like this.

We appreciate every fan's interest in ensuring these tests are successful - WE want them to be successful too, but we also appreciate Hachette's concerns that people rushing into the test areas and bulk buying copies will skew their numbers and could put the viability of a national launch at risk. We and Hachette don't publicise these tests for that very reason.

Day one:

Telegraph - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/women/politics/nicola-sturgeon-liar-traitor-head/?WT.mc_id=tmg_share_tw

"Treacherous Queen of Scots has miscalculated"

My favourite bit is when the SNP are socialists who are subsidized by hard working Londoners.

Bloody hell. I've never been a fan of the Telegraph but I thought they were a little bit better than publishing Katie Hopkins level columnists.

The Daily Mail would surely have picked that up for syndication. You missed a trick there.

Us Scots. Whit we like, eh?

I'm looking forward to two years of journalists who know f-all about Scotland and its politics telling me what I should think. Not to mention two years of lovely comments BTL on every newspaper website. Whee.

I'm glad it wasn't just me who thought Camelot 3000 was utter guff. I'd read a few things about it and was expecting some kind of classic. It's certainly not that.

The 3riller floppy was good this month. These can sometimes be a bit uneven, but they were were all enjoyable and complete stories in their own right.

At what point did David Bishop become persona non grata with Pat Mills? It's a bit weird that he has this entirely one-sided vendetta against the man. Is this all because of TPO?

Otherwise, an interesting and typically idiosyncratic article.

Film & TV / Re: Suicide Squad has (most of) its cast

I'm with you on Lego Batman. It skewers the po-faced idiocy that infects those films (and comics, to be fair). I do also have a fondness for the first Tim Burton film, having seen it at an impressionable age.

I do like the majority of films others rate hi ghly too. The Nolan Batman films got on my nerves a bit, though. I didn't dislike them (I thought the first was really good actually) but I did find them somewhat pretentious, and a bit overrated.

The Nolan films were okay, but the Wikipedia-level psychology was utter bilge, even more so than the average superhero nonsense.

Whenever you watch a TV show or movie or read a comic book where the Leader Of the Free World is in danger, has a motivational inspiring speech, challenges the nasty villains or has a direct line to the heroes (thus showing their heroic nature).... replace it with The Donald.

Hell Nixon's Head in a Jar is more presidential.

As an aside, I find the way Hollywood consistently portrays presidents as heroic and noble quite nauseating.  I also wonder whether that kind of attitude has had any bearing on the US electorate regularly picking actors, celebrity generals from their last war and now a reality tv star as their head of state.
