Ohhh! I've managed to stop playing Speedball 2 in a while, but I've not got it downloading again!

The good lady will be very cross with you all for mentioning it.

Brexit well beyond satire now.

Can I just check that I'm understanding the current situation regarding Brexit please?

  • the UK may possibly have to pay a significant sum of money for outstanding commitments.
  • the UK may end up with higher tariffs / poorer market access compared to its current arrangements.
  • the UK may still end up with similar immigration levels from the EU.
  • the UK will have less say over EU policy.
  • the UK will still have to comply with ECJ rulings but will have no say regarding them.
  • the UK may lose airlines and financial services companies to mainland Europe as companies are required to relocate.
  • there will be no additional money for the NHS as implied during the referendum campaign.
  • UK workers may lose employment protections they enjoy under EU law
  • UK farmers may lose financial support currently enjoyed under the Common Agricultural Policy.

On the plus side we will ....

  • no longer have Nigel Farage

Have I missed much?

Someone said this morning that the whole thing reminded him of people who "put in comically high bids on Ebay for random items for a lark, win, then have to pay £507 for a broken toaster."

I would bloody well hope, in the course of time, when the devastation of Brexit is measurable and completely transparent, that those responsible, the people who lied and misled, will take full responsibility. Shame on them.

God only knows what will happen with Northern Ireland now.

Sold a pup.

Brexit well beyond satire now.

Just mindboggling that we are being marched off a cliff, fully aware of what we will lose due to dishonesty, and the manipulations of the likes of Gove, Farage, Johnson etc.

Vague memories of the story, I think at the time I was regulalry reading the Prog it was the second series, but i loved the art.

Wouldn't mind if they collected it for the 2000AD Hatchette series. Fingers crossed.

About to have another read of the Game Of Thrones series.

Thankfully on my kindle, so i don't have to throw my back out carrying the paperbacks about.

Khronicals of Khaos is my favourite A.B.C Warriors story. I would also say it's one of the best 2000AD stories ever printed!

Cheers

One of the first complete ABC Warriors stories i ever read, and loved it. Kev Walker's art was bloody fantastic.

I'm toying with getting all the ABC Warriors collections, and making that my next big reading project. Be nice to see the early Bisley stuff again.

I remember seeing his Frankenstein pages for the first time and being blown away.

Really amazing work.

His illustrations for Stephen King's The Stand are also worth searching out.

The stuff I enjoyed the least (including some Megazine stories) is:

Bob Byrne's Twisted Tales - Generally fantastic

Love Bob's work but i've never read his 2000AD strips.

His Clamnuts website, and comics about growing up in Dublin in the 80s are absolutely fantastic.

Everything Bob does is fantastic, he's a major talent. The only problem is that he just doesn't do enough comics.  A third outing for his fleg-loving monkey character would be very welcome.

Agreed.

Had a wee spy at his website this morning, and looks like we might have some new stuff in 2000AD soon.

Bernie Wrightson  :(

One of the most talented artists to ever raise a pencil. I didn't have much access to comic books as a youngster, but I was blessed to have parents who bought me a reprint magazine that featured his Swamp Thing run. Loved it.

He pretty much added atmosphere and weight to anything he drew, and some of his Frankenstein art has to be seen to be believed.

RIP, fella.

LG and I just finished the fourth series of the Golden Girls. Despite being full of 80s TV pop culture references, being principally about privileged Miami pensioners and awash with inoffensive pastel colours this has aged brilliantly. The characters are strong, the morals are high (dealing with everything from addiction and homelessness all the way through to astonishingly mature debates of LGBT issues) and all four leads are astoundingly quick, making even the most obvious joke shine. I started watching the first series years ago due it being Mitch Hurwitz's first TV work and I thought it would be shite but honestly it has properly grown on me.

Then to find out there's a Golden Girls cafe opened up in New York.... hmmm

You could always get this monstrosity tattooed across your back like one dedicated fan did:

Hugely excited about the hardback. I'm mostly digital nowadays, but I would safely say that I would pick up any limited edition 2000AD hardback graphic novel.

What about a nice Button Man hardback with a new Ranson cover?

Quote from: Rately on 15 March, 2017, 09:47:10 AMI loved Cradlegrave. Picked it up during a FP sale. Has there ever been a sequel to the original?
Nope. John Smith's hardly the fastest of writers, sadly.

There's some possibility they won't, or they'll only send the first book. I recall one of these partworks (possibly Transformers) ended up with subs getting letters very rapidly that the entire test thing was done and they'd be contacted if and when it went to full series.

Cheers for the reply.

Hopefully he will get around to a sequel. John's stuff is fantastic.

Currently got my family on high alert for local newsagents to try and snag it! Ha

Had a wee nosey in the local Easons today in Belfast. No luck.

I'm really looking forward to arriving home some evening and finding them in the letterbox!
