I don't quite go along with the colour argument given the inclusion of Shimura, Maelstrom, Creep, Calhab, Anderson, Low Life, My Name is Death etc etc but the dodgy repro might have something to do with it as well as a possible feeling that some early Dredd is aimed at a younger simpler audience than latter tales, colour or otherwise.
Even so, some very odd decisions.
I love seeing the older tales and one lovely, unexpected treat this collection has given us is the colour centrespreads in many of the episodes such as Oz, Trapper Hag and most recently Gator. Seeing these stories represented better than in the Casefiles adds to the whole feeling of justifiying such wholesale double dipping (obviously more like quadruple or more in many cases). Just a shame this only seems to extend back to the mid-late 300s of Progs. Apocalype War and Judge Child given the Cursed Earth treatment would shut me up about any other failings.
The recent Gator reprint gives me hope for City of the Damned, Dredd Angel and Midnight Surfer with colour.

Don't know about Graveyard Shift tbh but not mentioned yet and running out of places for it - perhaps a MegaCity Law volume including the Crime File stories 209-223. Drop in a few newer stories and voila.
Sure I saw specfic mention that Kenny Who? is not included despite a fond write up in the front of the Calhab volume as if to rub salt in the wound in multiple ways.

Completely agree Tony. I understand the desire to present the Dredd Universe but it is openly admitted there were many dubious strips along the way.
If we end up with 80 volumes including Calhab Justice, BritCit Brute and Darren Dead but excluding Kenny Who?, Otto Sump and Graveyard Shift then there has been a serious error of judgment in compiling the collection.
We can only hope that a 20 volume extension is forthcoming and deals with these lunacies.

Young Death and Calhab just turned up. Forgotten that Calhab featured Brit-Cit Brute, something clearly everyone has been waiting for to see his story resolved...........

Best thing about Calhab is that it features Missionary Man on the spine (and a few pages of Steve Dillon and Colin MacNeil). Never really a fan of John Ridgeway (I can appreciate the skill and all, but even so), Lol looks like an artist in development - way too busy and muddy and the whole Calhab thing is tosh.

Young Death is a welcome volume, nice to have Fraser's stint in a hardback (it really warranted a Dark Justice size book back in the day but nevermind).
Not read Young Death for a while, had a skim and brought back fond memories. Pete Doherty art varies from superb to fledgling which is both understandable and rather charming.

Fetish and the final Anderson volume (barring extension) up next. Both stories I know well so no great excitement apart from seeing what else is in Fetish. Obviously not included but I wonder if we will ever see Pan-African Judges again, even in a floppy.

Al Ewing called it in 2011. Who knew Zombo was a factual piece?

Personally, I keep thinking of the Dead Zone- has Chris Walken shaken Trump's hand yet?

Wilderlands and Into the Undercity turned up.
Both very nice volumes, Creep is more fun (and unsettling) than I remembered.
Voting Day is included and I guess at 240 pages the volume was already pushing it without Death of a Legend. Hopefully it will be in another book.

Calhab Justice and Young Death are still MIA.

Cheers Indigo.
Voting Day?

I've been assuming Cry of the Werewolf will be in the Famous Monsters volume.
Rather have Tempest than Creep but maybe in an extension along with other Dreddverse shortlived spinoffs like Marauder.

Postie's just been and no books yet. That's 4 books that I'm now waiting on including the two replacement ones.
Really not good and I know any calls will feel like talking into a vacuum.
The books are on my account as having been dispatched but today's offering was the irritating 'card number too long' apology letter instead.
Rather just have my fecking books.

Are all the Creep stories included?
Is Voting Day not in the Wilderlands volume then?

Death of a Legend should be in there - big miss.

Hmm, not sure I want to join Friendface just for that.

Gaah. Changed my chemo regime on Thursday and was expecting nurse over tomorrow to remove my 48 hour pump infuser. Now the hospital calls to say there was a cock up and nothing else to do but go back to them. That's a 4 hour round trip (minimum) for a 5 minute procedure some time tomorrow and I have family arriving for the weekend in the next hour.
Buggerations.

Just got off the phone with a sense of deja vu. Last person I spoke to apparently didn't reorder the books for me for some unknown reason but the one this time said she would.
We'll see.

Film & TV / Re: STAR TREK returns to TV...

Guessing CBS wanted a 'crime of the week' and were looking for ways to cross over to their NCIS franchise.
If you read the article on their approach to The Walking Dead this really isn't too far fetched.

Oh, and a gripe about Hachette.
Calhab and Young Death still not turned up. Called Hachette who bizarrely asked me if I wanted a refund and seemed surprised when I calmly but firmly stated that 45 issues into a collection I would rather have the actual books. These were apparently reissued (over a week ago) and now checking my online account my credit card payment has been reversed under the premise 'card number too long'. This is the same card they have used 22 times automatically in the past.
Gaahhh, another phone call beckons.

Credits imply Fetish (85 pages), Mouthful of Dust (20), Vile Bodies (12), All Hell (50) which total 167 pages and likely a Smith/Doherty Dredd such as Roadkill (20) and/or Old Wounds (21).
Don't see Strange and Darke making the cut but maybe in the fabled extension which we have probably already filled with suggestions.
Not Devlin Waugh's greatest fan although I love Colin's painted art but good to see all his tales bar the text stories collected.
Only gripe is that the extras in the first volume didn't include the Jock version of the first part of Red Tide unlike the Rebellion trade. Missed opportunity for a genuinely juicy and presumably accessible bonus feature. With 3 Waugh trades there was enough room for it somewhere. Never know.
