There is now Dredd Vs Death Demo available for download from Gamer's Hell (http://www.gamershell.com/download_3451.shtml)
I don't know if it's the same one that was available from PC Zone.

IIRC the shooting ran in to problems when Prague flooded last year. However, they reckoned they would still be able to get it out in time.
Maybe they've just decided that more time is required or not to let it suffer from a rush job?

I remember suspecting Edgars during the first story. I still wouldn't put it past her to be involved, just her style.

The first ABC Warriors book really wasn't very good. The plotting was diabolical and shows no sign of a properly thought out or planned story arc.

I'm not sure that the thinly veiled rants in Mills work are becoming more offensive, possibly we're just less willing to forgive them because the accompaning story isn't up to much.

Does it refuse to play all discs? Commercial, RW etc.
My first inclination is that your drive is knackered. You could try cleaning it, but to be honest, I'd suggest you just buy a new one. You'll get a CD drive for ?20, less hassle than tinkering with your old one and it's guaranteed to fix it... or is it.

The more I think about this, the more I think I'm wrong. I don't like the way your drive is spitting the disc back out. It may be the design of your drive, but I've never seen one that rejects a disc just because it can't read it. Windows, on the other hand, can eject discs. I'm wondering if there's a slim chance that Windows might have been knacked somehow. Which OS are you running?

So there you go, a maybe this, a maybe that and a question back. That's definitive trouble shooting for you. :-)

"...is that you DO talk about 437 club and anything else you like really."

So what's so good about prog 437 that it's attracted the attention of the 473 club?

Personally, I'd go for Ron Perlman, but Bruce Campbell has definately got the chin for the job!http://www.abertayskydiving.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/Personal/BruceDredd.jpg">

Robohunter might make a good film. It's a fairly straight forward premise, and the original scripts a far superior to any action/comedy film in recent history.
It might be a bit special effects heavy if the robots are going to look good, but apart from that I can't see any real flaws.

It's maybe a bit early to say, but Snow/Tiger is also probably a good candidate. It certainly has an action movie feel to it it, although I shudder to think what spin Hollywood might put on the Terrorist/Counter-Terrorist dynamics.

Slaine could also be a good choice, especially considering the recent run of swords and sorcery films like the Scopion King. God knows what Pat Mills would think of someone else using his character though!

Finally, my personal favourite, Big Dave! Send Johnny Vegas to Boot Camp for six months and he'd be perfect.

Well, assuming that a successful Dredd film was made, then Anderson becomes a rather easy and obvious spin-off. She's got too much backstory probably to make it by herself, reckon she needs a Dredd film to set the scene.

Button Man would probably be quite a good one. As someone pointed out elsewhere, it's not owned by Rebellion. While this may make it less likely to appear, it might not mean anything other than paying Alan and Arthur for the rights for a film. Since any other film company could make money by buying the rights, no reason why Rebellion can't.

Help! / Re: Images on posts
25 April, 2003, 04:56:09 PM
As far as I know, you can't post an image from disk. If an image is on the web somewhere, you can put it's URL in the box at the end of the posting box 'Optional Image URL', and that'll bring it up with your post.

URL is Uniform Resource Locator, basically the web address of any picture.
Example, if you right-click on the picture of Dredd in the top left corner of the main website page, then select properties, you see the picture's URL displayed. In this case, http://www.2000adonline.com/images/template/strip_left.jpg. Simply, copy and paste that address into the box, and you should see it below...
This will work with pictures from any site, not just this one.

If you're really keen to post an image from disk, you can go to one of the yahoo groups like ArgueWith*****, and post it in the files section. You can then copy it's link from their to the message board. That should work.

General / Re: Dredd animated series?...........
26 April, 2003, 07:52:16 AM
Personally, I'd love to see an animated series, or even a feature film. The problem I see, is who is the finished product aimed at?

An animated series featuring the same content as the comics will have trouble in the kids market due to the violence.

Selling an animated series to an adult audience alone will prove difficult. I'm hard pressed to think of any examples. (Simpsons, Batman, etc all appeal to the adult market, but are suitable for kids too)

An animated film might be a more feasible. Somehow, an animated film seems more acceptable for an adult audience than a series. the recent Final Fantsy film may support this argument. (ok, it wasn't a great film, but Sony gave it a shot.)

Is there a Spawn cartoon? Any use, is it?

Artistically, it's not too bad. Commercially, it pretty much flopped. It was released on video in the UK rated 15 or 18, I can't remember which. Basically, it was too adult to succeed as a cartoon, and I don't think it was good enough to be a hit within the specialist market.

I hate to say it, but I think a Dredd cartoon might end up going down the same route.
If you were to go for the same market as the Batman series (ie suitable for kids, but mature enough to attract an adult audience too) you'd run into real trouble with the portrayal of guns. You'll end up with some bastardised version of Dredd, similar to the 'Lawman of the Future' series that came out around the time of the Stallone film. Basically, it featured stun shots and less violence if I remember.

As a more obscure idea, could a Dredd cartoon work as an adult orientated satire? 2D-TV has been fairly successful on ITV and Dredd has tackled similar ideas before.

Help! / Re: Tech-geeks: USB Question.........

Ok, the article linked below sems to back up most of what I was saying.
I may have to rethink v2 peripherals working with v1 sockets. I'm just not sure anymore. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Ok, I'm going off the top of my head here, so I'll try and validate it at a later date.

Yes, a v2 scanner will work with v1 port, just slowly.
Upgrading requires new hardware. I presume your v1 ports are built into your pc motherboard. You can buy an expansion card that slots into a PCI slot to provide 2 or 4 v2 usb ports. These will work alongside your existing ones.
