My submission: "Chief Judge Trump"

Dredd couldn't handle the thought of the newly appointed Chief Judge Trump.

This was fun to draw! Larger scans are available, thanks!

In 2016 they released three volumes - 26, 27 and 28.

Good to know, thanks. I hope they do the same in 2017, three a year is affordable.

These are all incredible - james newell, that image would make a great poster/lithograph! I'm definitely inspired, I think I'll throw my hat into the ring and draw one this week too.

The Order: Die Mensch Machine sounds intriguing as well.

Also there is only volume 29 of Dredd CCF, does only one volume come out each year? Im slowly collecting all those as well.

Brian Boland or Carlos Ezquerra on Rogue Trooper would be awesome!

I also think Travis Charest would be great on Dredd - his attention to detail and muted color palette would really suit MC1 well.
Here a few examples of his work:

Thanks PsychoGoatee. I think that you are most likely correct and that Amazon is simply posting the wrong number of pages. Its good to know that they are the same size too - I will begin collecting the UK volumes as of now. I also noticed my local comic book store has the first three volumes of the Restricted files so I am picking those up asap as well. Am I correct that TCCF volume 12 is the first color/glossy paper volume?

General / Dredd Complete Case Files (Question)
24 August, 2016, 12:26:10 AM
I now have the first 11 Case Files and plan on collecting the rest. I live in Canada and the North American volumes are only at volume 12 (and UK at vol 27 I think). The books switch to glossy color paper with this volume (from what I've read) so I think this would be a good volume to switch to collecting the UK collection at this point.

My question: Are there any differences between the UK and American volumes other than the jacket? I have read that they are the same, but looking online there appears to be a difference. For example the UK volume 12 is described as having 288 pages and dimensions of 18.7 x 1.6 x 25.8 cm (https://www.amazon.ca/dp/1905437919/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=11EQSZB3U8LJ2&coliid=IVH9ZXHQEZ06Z)
The American volume 12 is described as having 336 pages and dimensions of 18.7 x 2 x 26 cm (https://www.amazon.ca/Judge-Dredd-Complete-Case-Files/dp/1781084793/ref=pd_sim_14_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=FFRGZGWVXK1VCMPKAFWR)

(Moreover UK vol 11 shows 368 pages and US vol 11 shows 400 pages, etc.)

Does anybody have an explanation for the differences noted on Amazon (48 page difference)? I want to begin collecting the UK volumes from here on out but would like to know the differences between the two and that I wont be missing anything. Thanks again!

Following this thread quietly I would have to echo a lot of what has been said re Stront / Robo Hunter RJ.  The early stories are far away the best.  The Verdus story is Gibson at the top of his game and some of the battle scenes are incredibly intricate.  I'm in the 'what followed wasn't so good' camp, seeing a lot of it falling down with lame gags.  It's not hideous (well, until you get to Millar's stuff).

The only other strips I can see missing from recommendations are, and this does surprise me unless I've missed it, the VC's and Stainless Steel Rat.  VC's is a fore runner to Rogue Trooper in the future War stakes with Cam Kennedy on art duties for the most part.  Stainless Steel Rat adapts 3 of Harrisons novels; SSR, SSR saves the world and SSR for president.  Ezquerra on art duties and for my money a damn good adaptation.

If I were rewriting your pull list it would look a bit like this:

1.  Dredd
2.  Stront.
3.  Halo Jones (as has been said: Moore's top form story telling, Gibson's exquisite art)
4.  VC's - future war with Kennedy art on the first story.  Williams on later stories but expanding really nicely.
5.  Nemesis - early books have O'Neill, Redondo and Talbot on art duties.  Think Spanish Inquisition meets Clockwork Orange.
6.  Stainless Steel Rat.  Ezquerra with a cracking Coburn homage.
7.  Robo Hunter.
8.  Glimmer Rats.
9.  Kingdom.
10.  Leviathan.
11.  Dante.  Commit.  The Romanov Dynasty with cybernetic technology, an Errol Flynn type lead and a complex supporting cast.
12.  Button Man.
13.  Al's Baby.  Ezquerra's art and as has been said, a typically loopy storyline.
14.  D R and Quinch.  Alan Davies on art duties for a story that Alan Moore has apologised for.  Think alien Animal House with low yield tactical nuclear weaponry.
15.  Ro-busters.  A Robot version of Thunderbirds.  Ian Kennedy, Kevin O'Neill, Mike McMahon and Dave Gibbons on art duties.  The two new Nut's and Bolts volumes are probably the best.
16.  Dan Dare.  Dave Gibbons and Massimo Belardinelli artwork rebooting the fifties space hero and offending Comic historians everywhere at the time!

In the 'well it is tooth now' camp I would add Scarlet Traces, including Edginton and Disraeli's adaptation of War of the Worlds.  Well worth the read and soon to be reprinted by Rebellion although I'll be keeping my Dark Horse hardbacks.  And in the 'if you loved Nemesis' camp, it's got to be Luther Arkwright.  Talbot's storytelling in fine fettle.

Tjm86, thank you for your thorough list! I appreciate your input and the effort it took for you to put that list together. I will keep a copy of the list to refer to going forward while collecting 2000AD.

I used your list to do some research, and some of these titles are frustratingly difficult to find in Canada/online. I wanted to order the VCs and Kingdom but cant find much. Even a complete set of Nikolai Dante trades seems not to exist. Hopefully 2000AD gives some of these titles the Case Files or omnibus treatment soon.

General / Re: How did you discover Judge Dredd?
11 August, 2016, 12:36:03 AM
Only about 8 months ago I discovered 2000AD. I watched the movie Dredd (2012) which led me to read a new Dredd comic (Judge Dredd: Mega City Zero #1 by IDW - I live in Canada). I enjoyed the character so I did some research and purchased Dredd Case Files #2 - the 2000AD Dredd was so good I was hooked (Cursed Earth and The Day the Law Died are my favorites). Ive been on a 2000AD binge ever since - been spending way too much money but its worth it!

That cover looks great, I am very excited for this issue! Being new to 2000AD, this will be the first prog I purchase! I figure it will be a good place to start reading. I am most looking forward to the Dredd and Anderson stories and especially the Rogue Trooper story, as well as art from Bolland and McMahon!

According to CBR:
The 2000th issue of "2000 AD" includes:

-A special one-off Judge Dredd story from creators John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra
-Pat Mills and Kevin O'Neill reunite for a special Nemesis the Warlock story
-Psi-Judge Anderson has another psychic case from Alan Grant and David Roach
-Sinister Dexter hit the road, courtesy of Dan Abnett and Mark Sexton
-A mysterious prisoner has a tale to tell in Rogue Trooper: Ghosts of Nu Earth by Gordon Rennie and Richard Elson
-Brand-new identity-theft thriller Counterfeit Girl by Peter Milligan and Rufus Dayglo debuts.
-Plus, interlude pages from Brian Bolland, Mick McMahon, Dave Gibbons, Robin Smith, and more.

RE: Robo-Hunter, so far I enjoy a lot of the early 2000AD, so I think I'll take your advice and check out the first Droid Files only. My want-list of 2000AD titles continues to grow!

Thanks to everyone here, these are the books Im most looking forward to:
-Continuing the Dredd Case Files Collection (And Restricted Files)
-Strontium Dog Agency Files collection
-Glimmer Rats
-Kingdom
-Leviathan
-Nikolai Dante (maybe, I dont know enough about it yet to commit)
-Robo-Hunter (on my radar, but not the top of my list)
-Halo Jones/Nemesis the Warlock (I heard these are good, not sure about them yet)
-Will look into Al's Baby and Button man in the future.

Im not really into Conan the Barbarian and fantasy comics very much so I don't think Slane is for me. I do enjoy Sci-fi/futuristic stories so I know I will enjoy Strontium Dog, Glimmer rats, etc.
