Announcements / Re: New Hachette tests

Fantastic news. The Mega Colelction is what brought me into the world of 2000AD, so an expansion upon it will be very much welcome.

Perhaps I should stop buying old trades for a while.

Think so.

Dammit. Was patiently waiting for payday to pick this up (the travel to and from the 40th polished off my disposable for the month) and now, 24 hours before, it's gone. Such is the way I suppose

Prog / Re: Prog 2020 - Mega-City Meltdown

The Prog is fantastic at the moment, it really is, but I have to say I'm ready for a new lineup. These stories have all been throughly enjoyable these last 2 months, with barely. A bad episode among them, but I am ready for something a bit different to make an appearance.

Already ordered Agency Files 2.

If I'm planning to get all the Agency Files, and the Strontium trades after Final Solution, are their other trades I need to get characters like Durham Red/Middenface/etc?
(I did try Googling, but got a bit lost on it)

Glad you discovered Strontium Dog - along with Dredd it is my favorite 2000AD series. Here is what you will want to read (in order) for the essential S/D collection:

   Search/Destroy Agency Files #1
   Search/Destroy Agency Files #2
   Search/Destroy Agency Files #3
   Search/Destroy Agency Files #4
   Final Solution
   Kreeler Conspiracy
   Traitor to His Kind
   Blood Moon
   Life and Death of Johnny Alpha: The Project
   Life and Death of Johnny Alpha: Dogs of War

I have enjoyed everything SD I have read so far. All of the S/D Files are fantastic, I would rate them as follows: S/D #1: 8.5/10, S/D #2: 10/10, S/D #3: 10/10, S/D #4: 9/10, S/D #5 (Final solution): 8/10.

Thank you for that. Saved for reference going forward!

Figured this was as good a place as any to put this little ramble...

So I started reading 2000AD last year with Prog 2000 (late, yes, but that meant I had 39.5 years worth of Thrill Power to catch up with) and as such have been working through the Dredd Mega Collection to try and get the Dreddverse covered before expanding to other classics. Then I hit Judgement Day, and whilst the story was an acceptably thrilling read, I decided to venture outside the Mega Collection for a bit and pick up Agency Files Volume 1, as Johnny fascinated me.

And bugger me sideways; Johnny Alpha (and the entire volume, for that matter) is some of the best comics I've ever had the pleasure to read. Is the quality maintained throughout the files, or is Strontium an up and down sort of book? If it's all this exceptional I may have a new favourite series.

Yeah mine has been dispatched today as well. Will have to grab the alternate cover on my way to work. Can't wait to get this read.

My hunt for some original artwork has somehow ended up in me commissioning an original piece from King Carlos. This has happened completely by accident but I am incredibly excited by the prospect.

Has anyone received theirs yet?

Not yet, but the Twitter Droids informed me yesterday that it should arrive by Wednesday.

Speaking to Matt at the 40th, he said there are plans for more but it's just a case of fitting it in now.

Bit of a novice at original 2000AD art. I know that most US artists are represented by art dealers, etc, but is that so with 2000AD artists, or is it generally a case of getting in touch directly with the artists. Sorry if this is a really stupid question but after seeing some of the pages available at the 40th, and not having any way of transporting them home, I'm itching to get hold of some.

After thinking on it, my only regret is that I was unable to meet Mr Ezquerra, but the queue for him was just too long for the timescale I had at the event. Hopefully there will be a next time. (Winks suggestively at the PR Droids as they attempt to recharge)

Going to rejuvenate (and appropriate) this thread to ask for some advice from 2000AD regulars.
I've been reading AD since July of last year, and in that time have jumped in deep on Dredd, and everything around him, with the Mega Collection. I've now decided that I need to branch out a bit, and am wondering what would be the best next steps into 2000AD.
At the 40th yesterday, Pat Mills told me to read Crisis when I mentioned that I loved his Savage work. Now, I can't seem to find this online. Is it in print?
Aside from that, I've read everything in the Prog and Meg since last July. I particularly enjoy Kingmaker, Hope...For The Future, Savage and Lawless. I've also read 2 volumes of Stickleback and volume 1 of Slaine the Horned God.

What would be the recommendations from here? I've read through the thread and there's a lot on offer, so was wondering if anyone happened to have similar tastes to me and could make any suggestions on what to do from here. Cheers
