You mentioned a cover that reflected that of Prog 582, don't see anyone adding to that so I'll chip in. I think the Prog you are thinking of is 89 at the start of 'The Day the Law Died' with Walter cradling an assasinated Dredd.

We're once again headed back to these halcyon days of late 1980 and 1981 for classic thrill power! Meltdown Man is an epic fantasy written by Alan Hebden with art by Massimo Belardinelli. It charts the adventures of dimension hopping SAS Agent Nick Stone and a whole cast of animal-human hybrids called Yujees! It's a massive tale, spanning 50 progs, with numerous thrills, chills, and epic violence, plus a Tiger Commander! It's a ton of fun, and something you won't find anywhere else!

This stuff looks so great. I've got to invest in these and the Strontium Dog minis. I wish the Judges had more options so you could use them as an Enforcers warband in Necromunda.

Haha, I've definitely picked up a lot of info about the art situation since this episode came out (and after we recorded the first Harrison episode, damnit) but I will try to clean a lot of this up on a future show. It's a little hard because some of the background context is pretty spoilery!

I assume you're joking about the "made-up alien language Kantanka" - I find it hard to believe someone who works in videogames doesn't have a passing familiarity with Japanese Katakana.

I love Oz and I'm glad Wagner had his way - the whole story seems to be building towards Chopper winning and dying, so having him lose and survive is a neat twist and a perfectly bittersweet ending*. And of course it leaves the door open for more stories, [spoiler]at least two of which are really good[/spoiler].

The Wagner/Grant split and that supremely un-enticing Simon Harrison Strontium Dog image do seem to signal the end of an era, but there's plenty of good stuff until at least Prog 700!

After the initial shock I'm hoping to take the new Strontium Dog art in stride and try to evaluate it as objectively as possible. We're in for an interesting road with ol' Johnny Alpha, and I'd rather not start down it with my arms crossed

The Fall Guy story coming to Space Spinner 2000 in a few weeks!

A vicar in Blackburn denounced D&D in the late 80s and I had a letter printed in the local paper calling him out for it - I'll see if I can find it!

I remember getting a talking to from my doctor when I was a kid because I said I liked D&D. Apparently it's a deadly gateway to satanism, fyi!

I think we'd just come out of the Beastie Boys will ruin your children phase at this time - I remember a lot of fuss around them in 1987/8.

Anyway just wanted to say the sentiment at the opening of the show was quite wonderful. The only downside to Fox getting married is that it breaks the dream that the pair of you would get it together... mind that might have been like when Maddie Hayes and David Addison (was it) got it together on Moonlighting - it'd be all downhill from there, so guess I should be grateful.

Luckily a true bromance can survive any trial or tribulation!

It's not really a satanic panic unless you have people being arrest of large scale ritual abuse on the strength of highly questionable recovered memories!

Well, his bio says he's got a PhD, but that's the Earth-3064 version and (crucially) the author misspelt "quantum". (This UK forum wants me to say misspelled, but that sounds like I cast a *freeep* instead of a fireball.) Also, I can't find him on linkedin.

Earth-616 only by gar! This was a crazy fight, and was basically just Fox antagonizing me for like an hour before the show started. I WAS FUMING

There is an awful lot of 80s nostalgia going on in my TV watching / podcast listening habits of late, and none can touch the 80s glory of the new SS2000 logo.

But what's SpaceSpinner2000 going to look like in the year 1990?

It's been way too long since our last collections episode, especially since the most recent one ended on a cliffhanger with the first half of Nemesis book one complete and another half to finish! So here we are again, fighting humans and bringing peace to the galaxy, or something. After the first half's rip-roaring introduction and expansion of the world of Nemesis and Torquemada we're now starting to see full fledged stories and intrigue break out between our protagonist and antagonist, as well as the introduction of themes and characters that will influence the story going forward.
