Megazine / Re: Meg 470: Alien Terror

The meg for me currently has one excellent strip in Dreadnoughts and one good one in Armitage but mostly the strips are just floating on the middle ground. So overall I still feel the meg to a little bit bland. The meg has been just dialing it in for awhile now and I would like something new and exciting

A little bit of a dop of form here with maybe only the Shock being a bit bland but the rest is all serviceable. Brink is the stand-out here.

Dredd – Well it was a fun silly ride. This highlights how versed Dredd is one week we can have a serious dark toned story next; we can have a mind-boggling stupid but fun story.

Brink – What will Brink be if we have no talking heads people? The story continues to slowly build into more intrigue and as I always said I am sure we will never get a proper answer. Always wondering, always thinking under the layers of skin something will be exposed. Great stuff as always.

Rogue – Old school story just adding another story to the hunt for the traitor. I enjoyed this just plain action-fest fun.

Shock – A very predicable outcome at the end, good art though but the end was telegraphed way too early.

Silver – Still trying to get my teeth into this one the verdict is still out. I am in two minds about Currie's art I think I like it, but some parts still feel a little messy (maybe he will pull a Lynch on me here). One thing I can say about his art is that it differs from the rest of the prog in a good way.

I loved Junker in the days, always wanted a re-print. Maybe then I might see why people do not like it

Coming to prog 2392 Herne & Shuck:

To be honest I do not really find that the older progs quality is less than the current ones. What you can do buy the xmas prog 2003 (published at the end of December 2002) and see the quality. One thing that is quite obvious is the page sizes compared to today's prog, I think it is the same size as the American comics

Welcome to the board. Have fun catching-up, the prog is in a very strong position currently with some wonderful strips.

I have over the last few years basically bought all the digital progs. A pity that it only goes back to the beginning  of 2003

It was originally published in meg 448 and 449. When it was released it did not have the write-up as soon above.

I think it covers 100% what was in the meg and not new content

Le Fink your observations is not unique a lot of readers will feel the same. I do not think we will ever really get an answer to our questions which might sound funny but I do not mind. I just love the intrigue, suspense and mystery of the story. It is continuing building, slowly creeping up on you. Their is always something to behold in each chapter even if it feels slow.

A good prog with a good combination of stories in different phases of its respective runs.

Dredd – So far just one of those silly fun romps. Elson's art works well with the premises

Brink – A lot talking per usual, and it felt like this was going nowhere but ends with a quite an interesting twist of events with Bridget in the middle of everything.

Rogue – This is more like the traditional 80s type of story, but I am enjoying this one.

Shock – A very good Future Shock well told and well executed.

Silver – A good solid start from the new thrill. The premises I think is purposely left opaque with a revealing panel on the last page last panel. I am intrigued to where this is heading so let see how it develops. Matching up to Proteus Vex is going to be an interesting challenge and Carroll's last few works has been brilliant.
