As I really am going from the board for a while, (Honest!) I will leave you with a teaser from my Dredd screenplay. It's a classic I promise you!! Actual dialogue:

Dredd investigates a guy called Balthazar Leech.At his house, a judge sees a couple making love in a room.

Leech
(to Dredd)
I didn't know love making was now a crime?

Dredd:
It isn't. But we're working on it.

It's been good but I am bored with my posts. Too much 2k analysis is bad for you! I am going into hibernation for a few months. Besides I get bad eye strain looking at my monitor!

If anything comes of my you know what, I'll let you all know!

Why don't they just make one new Dredd film instead of two?

Have a larger budget (30 mill) and perhaps make for a better film.

That was Andy Diggle, former editor of 2k, exact words I pasted from the alt.comics.2000Ad newsgroup.

I don't want to comment further on Andy's tenure as editor as I made my views perfectly clear at the time on that board! I still have the scars! But it's interesting to know the facts. So at the moment we are still in the Diggle phase of 2k.

Great to see Clint Langley back too. Draws this week's cover. His colour art on Dinosty (old story) was amazing. Perhaps the best I ever saw in 2k?

Oh yeah, the cover of the new meg is a bit of a cheat! Classic Cliff Robinson art but it was also the cover of the very first Dredd novel 'The Savage Amusement' too! Way back in 1993. Still, it is a good piccy so who cares!

Oh well, me off to write an epic Dredd tale that I will post here for the next 20 weeks or so. Hope you don't mind...

Dredd and his cadets out in the park in the full moon.

Kind of like the hot dog run but in the trees,
Where horrible monster roam displeased.

It could have been a classic, a real true gem

Control:
Item, Jimps operating at the 'Cash And Carry If You can' Multi Bank on Gleason Flyby. Nearest unit to intercept.

EXT. WATCHING BAY FIVE - DAY
Rico to control, I'll take it!

The lawmaster burns down the watching bay slip road onto the main skedway.

Rico
(into bike computer)
Bike, nearest route to Gleason? Download details onto biker visor. Include any spy in sky public surveillance unit cameras in area.

Bike Computer
Affirmative. Downloading.

On visor, showing map route.

EXT. SINNERS SALVATION SKEDWAY - DAY

Rico zooms through the traffic.  

Rico:
Traffic ahead. Turbo boost!

Lawmaster leaps through the air over over a roadster.

On Rico's bike computer display, on location of spy in sky camera in front of bank.

Rico:
Computer. Disable spy cam. Override sequence Delta 4 6. Authorization Dredd, J. Use my retina scan for confirmation.

Computer scans Dredd's visor and his eye.

Computer:
Scanning. Disabling camera now. Stand by.

Rico approaches the bank.

INT. CONTROL ROOM - DAY

Sector judge is looking at screen from sky cam's point of view. Suddeenly the screen goes fuzzy with white noise and cuts off.

Sector judge:
What the...

EXT. SINNERS SALVATION SKEDWAY -DAY

Rico racing along:

Bike computer:
Camera disabled.

EXT. BANK - DAY
Four judge impersonators leaving bank with their stolen credits. Jimp#1 hears the siren of Rico's bike approaching.

Jimp#1
The law!

Jimp#2
You forget, so are we!

They draw their weapons. They fire at Rico.

Rico:
Bike cannon!

Rico opens up with the cannons. Badamm Badamm!
Two jimps (#3 and #4) go down in a hail of gunfire.

Jimp#1
Impersonating the law is a crime creep!

Rico:
You don't say!

Rico pulls the bike up and wheelies along the road as the underside of the bike is hit. Rico races along on his rear wheel. He lands the bike upright on Jimp#1, crushing him to death.
Jimp#2 fires at Rico but Rico is just too damn quick. Fires his lawgiver at the perp blowing off his gun arm.

Jimp#2
Arrgghh!

Perp falls to the ground.

Rico gets off bike. Goes up to the wounded perp.

Rico:
Impersonating a judge, armed robbery with violence... and of course damage to judicial property.

Jimp#2
Huh?

Rico:
My bike meathead. Lets call it life. Yours.

Rico raises his gun to perp's head.

Jimp#2
I surrender grud damn it!

Rico:
What was that you said?

Rico shoots him in the head. Perp falls back dead.
Rico looks around. Silence. Looks up at sky in the sky cam above him. On Rico's mouth, like Dredd's but more malevolent.

Rico walks casually back to his bike. Speaks into helmet mike:

Rico:
Rico to control. Four for the meat wagon on Gleason. Multiple casulties in Multibank. Med assist required.

Control:
On it's way.

Rico revs the bike's engines hard.

Control:
Rico, PSU camera in your area went down. Anything unusual to report?

Rico: Nothing unusual control.

As Rico disappears down the skedway:

Rico:
Nothing at all.

I wonder if this is Rogue Trooper?

I have managed to get my hands on an exact word for word transcript of page one of a brand new Sinister Dexter tale called WHAT THE FUNT! to be printed in 2k soon. It is supposed to be a major story.
Unfortunately something happened during the top secret download and all the expletives were accidently removed so this is the non funt/puke version. Anyway see what you think of it...

Dredd will not die, be replaced etc.

Why?

Because John Wagner DOES NOT OWN THE CHARACTER.

REBELLION OWN IT.

Which means they have final say whether Joe kicks the bucket. Not JOHN WAGNER!!
And as Dredd is the number one star of 2000AD, it is not financially viable for Rebellion to kill him off.

Try Helter Skelter parts 8 and 9. Prog 1257 and 1258.

The colour is done by Mr Blythe who now seems to have turned to writing!

Henry used to colour his old Rogue art. In the Mid 90's.

I rate his Nemesis Book 10 art as his best ever.

Ever since Mr Flint drew ABC Warriors last year and now Shakara, I've wondered if in fact his art is in colour and then printed in black and white.

All of the backgrounds look like they use a mixture of computer colour.

Does anyone have any ideas? Maybe someone at Rebellion can tell me?

If it is originally in colour, I hope he gets paid the same amount as colour art jobs! Would seem a shame to draw it in colour and then be printed in black and white.
