Prog / This week's Dredd was good but all wrong!
25 January, 2002, 04:10:38 PM
MAJOR SPOILER ALERT**********MAJOR SPOILER ALERT*******

I really liked this week's Dredd by Morrison and Doherty but the portrayal of Dredd and Justice Dept was completely wrong.

Even taking into account Dredd's occasional humanity, these are some of the big time errors:

Bear with me!

1] Biggest mistake is having the mother being united with her child.

She is dependant on an illicit drug and would be unfit to look after her child.
The child would be taken into foster care and or/a drug rehabilitation unit.

2] Despite Dredd being humane, he's overlooked the many crimes the mother has perpetrated. This is the list -
a] Wilful abandonment of a minor. Namely leaving the baby on a pedway. I'd say that would be at least a year or three in the cubes.
b] Attempted suicide. The mother jumping off the terrace. Suicide is illegal in MC1. 6 months I reckon in the cubes for that.
c] Possession and use of an illegal substance, namely heroin. 6 months a piece I'd say.
That is a minimum of at least 3 and half years in the cubes.

3]The mother would never be reunited with her child so soon. First she would have to serve her time and be weaned off the drug. It's silly to think she would be fit to look after her child.

Prog / Shakara this week. EH??
24 January, 2002, 04:07:13 AM
SPOILER ALERT!!!!!

Very odd.

Not good and very odd too.

A waste of 5 pages, not good and very odd too.

I mean do we care that some little nit thingy gets saved then blasted to death by Shakara's ship?

Worst 5 pages I have ever read in 2k. Nice art mind.

I feel you lot can't be pleased!:O)

You complain about old fashioned simple stories like Killer and now you complain about S H.

WHAT CAN REBELLION DO TO PLEASE YOU?:O)

Ahem.

I like it thus far.

Serious question.
If you were Tharg, what story would you commission?

It just seems that 2k can never please everyone, so I was wondering maybe, just maybe there is one type of story that will have mass appeal.

If you know, email me in private and I'll write it under a false name and send it in to 2k.

Thank you for your time.

General / Death in black and white!
20 January, 2002, 05:12:49 AM
Just read the Frazer Iriving interview on the site. He revealed that the forthcoming Dredd Death story is going to be in black and white.

I think the last Dredd story in black and white was an Elm Street Nightmare, prog 635.
Maybe wrong though. If anyone knows of a later Dredd story in b/w, let me know.

Two more things.
Frazer said he had many rejections from 2k before he got his first art gig. Food for thought.

But the most important thing is it's my birthday today. Well for 45 mins more!

As to how old I am, mind your damn business!:O)

General / Just tell me why???
18 January, 2002, 08:40:43 PM
Why ?

Why don't the judges wear bullet proof uniforms?
Or at least something that would cushion the force of a projectile.

In all my years, I don't recall mention ever being paid to bullet proof attire!

Odd really when you consider the amount of crime the judges have to endure.

I suggest for this summer's fashion collection, they go with flow and wear bullet proof clothing.

Clothes to live for!
Or would you rather be seen dead without them?

I should work in advertising!

By the way, does anyone know the group Goldfrapp? Moody track I got called Lovely Head. Featured in a Mercury ad too you know.
Spooky song.

General / scojo's amazing ideas, part 2!
17 January, 2002, 07:36:39 PM
How about this everyone!!!!!

Rebellion have a new subscription service here. Well they got to pay the rent you see!

This is how it works.

You want to read say some classic stuff from 2k or an annual, special etc. But you can't find the material anywhere.

So you request what you want from the 2k database. The part(s) is/are downloaded to you. Maybe a private account or email address.

You have to pay a charge to use it. Maybe a 6 month flat fee or something similar.
You can then print it out if you like.
Remember though all material is Copyright Rebellion 2002!

I think it could be a winner.

Anyone think it's a good idea?

Prog / I could have sworn I read that before....
17 January, 2002, 04:35:29 AM
Interesting facts for you all.

SPOILER************************

This week's Dredd tale by Alan Grant has exactly the same ending (the note) as a story he wrote in the Megazine Volume 1, No 10, dated July 1991.

That story was called The Gipper's Big Night Out and was about mutants entering the city from the west wall. The words on the note are identical in both stories.

Also Wagner wrote a Dredd tale last year about a talking gun on the rampage, which was exactly the same as one he wrote for 2k after the Dredd movie just came out. Way back in 1995.

I told you it was interesting!

General / SCOJO HAS VIRUS SOFTWARE
15 January, 2002, 04:14:30 AM
Just for the record, I bought some anti virus software about a month ago!

I did a systems check yesterday. On my life I did!

This bandit or badrans or whatever it's called, infects your address book and sends this email virus to people on your list.

I have had loads of "THIS MAY HAVE THE BADRANS (OR WHATEVER THE DAMNED THING IS CALLED!) VIRUS" emails sent to me in the last two months. At least 30 to 40 I'd guess. I then scan my computer from top to bottom and it reads no virus present.

I promise you I'm completely clean.

I a got many emails from a friend I know in France today. He replied 3 times back and he had no problems.

This virus is very strange. I think it says YOU MAY have a virus if you open the email. It always said that when I got one. However as I say I have never actually had this virus affect my hardrive etc.

I swear on my cat's life shooshi, this is the case.

I am clean!!!!!

General / The only song for Judge Death!
13 January, 2002, 07:36:57 PM
There is only one tune for Judge Death.

It's a sin by the Pet Shop Boys.
It's perfect. Moody, haunting and the lyrics convey Death's philosophy:

When I look back upon my life,
It's always with a sense of shame,
I've always been the one to blame.

For everything I long to do,
No matter when or where or who,
Has one thing in common too...

It's a, it's a, it's...
It's a sin!

Everything I've ever done,
Everything I ever do,
Every place I've ever been,
Everywhere I'm going to...

It's a sin.

At school they taught me how to be,
So pure in thought, and word and deed,
They didn't quite succeed.

For everything I long to do,
No matter when, or where or who,
Has one thing in common too,

It's a, it's a  it's a...
It's a sin.

Father forgive me,
I tried not to do it.
Turned over a new leaf,
Then tore, I threw it.

Whatever you taught me,
I didn't believe it.
Father you fought me,
Cos I didn't care and I still don't understand.

Verse, chorus then instrumental end bit.

It's one seriously cool tune. It's got to be played on the end credits.

General / One or four dark judges?
12 January, 2002, 10:53:10 PM
I was wondering...

Do you think a Possession film would be better with all the dark judges or just Death on his own?

I don't know if having Death as the only bad guy will work for a 2 hour movie.

It's just if he is alone, he is easier to destroy and/ or entrap. With the other dark judges along for the ride, I think there's more potential.

IMHO I think if the film's budget could cover the cost, the 4 judges is the way to do it.

Off Topic / Here's an interesting fact....yawn....
12 January, 2002, 07:46:19 PM
Did you know that old 2k artist Dermot Power (he of Dredd and Slaine fame) is now the concept artist for Star Wars 2: Attack of the Dolly the Sheep Clones!

So if the film is naff, we know who to blame!

Hee hee:O))

General / MCNULTY. YOU ARE WRONG ABOU MCGRUDER!!!
12 January, 2002, 06:31:35 PM
Sorry mate but you are WRONG!

You are right up until you get to Mcgruder's death.  SEE PROG 1009, DEATH OF A LEGEND.

Justice dept decided she was unfit to remain alive. Euthanasia was the proposed method of execution.

Dredd didn't like the sound of this, took Mcgruder from the Euthanasium into the cursed earth for one last battle.

Dredd and Mcgruder engaged some cannibals in warhead gulch. Mcgruder was shot by the cannibals and died in Dredd's arms.

SHE WAS NOT SHOT BY DREDD!

***********Spoiler alert**********Spoiler alert*******

Is it just me or has Robbie Morrision being taking too much viagra?

I mean we had the horror of war and now it's Carry On Dante.

In this week's Dante, we have had electrocuted genitalia, burning pubic hair, mention of castration via the groin guillotine, the flagellators, and reference to testicles being toasted!

I've seen less sex at a charity porn gangbang!

Although I am enjoying the story, I can't help feel the tone is all wrong following Tzar Wars. Surely the aftermath of the war (as mentioned briefly last prog) should be the main story, not this.

It just seems out of place. The scars of war on Dante's mind seem to have been completely forgotten. Maybe time will prove me wrong.

Anyway, Robbie gives new meaning to the term oral sex.
He can't stop talking about it!!!
