Hey PVS, that is probably the best suggestion I've heard so far. He did have a mean quality in that film.

I think the movie Dredd should be reasonably young.

scojo who is also young, mean, of strong build and has a huuuuuuuuuuge daytick. Or so my girlfriend says anyway...

Best not to get too carried away.

Until it's official, I'd have an open mind.

I guess Pee Wee Herman is out of the running then.

James Bond is a hero. Although he is the archetypal male chauvinist and works for a government who grant him a licence to kill.

Superman is a superhero.

Batman is a hero. Although you can interpret his actions as criminal if you want. See The Dark Knight Returns for more.

Robin Hood is a pure hero. His ideology is to help the poor.

Dredd's morality is governed by his belief in the law. To Dredd, the law is 99% black and white. You break the law you do time. So he doesn't care if you mug someone because you are poor.  Or you rob to feed your starving child. You do your time.

However he does have a clear understanding of good and evil. He knew that Cal, War Marshal Kazan, Orlok etc were evil and had to be stopped. So here we see his heroic virtues coming to the fore.

Once the great evil has been destroyed, his more ambivalent heroism returns. Heroism based on his subjective interpretation of fascist ideology.

A hero but not super.

The term "Superhero" generally means a hero with superhuman powers.

So this ain't Dredd.

According to the dictionary definition, an anti hero is one who does not display traditional heroic traits.

So Dredd is a true anti hero.

Dredd wanted to nuke England of the future but Chief Judge Hershey said Wales only.

Seems fair to me.

Ignore him Mangamax, he's a fool!

Brit Cit as it's called, still exists in Dredd's timeline. The Brits came to Dredd's aid during the Doomsday saga in 2k during 1999.

I think Mr Wagner should have a tale where Dredd visits Brit Cit.
One for Tharg to think over.

Ah but the last book of Zenith was in colour!

And Grant Morrison was under the influence of some illegal substance when he wrote it!

Or so Tharg told me.

Oh dear,

I was being flippant.

(Some people!:O)

Zenith was about a reluctant superhero of the 1980's who was forced to battle a (sort of) reanimated evil superhero from the 1940's.

Further books introduced more backstory, superheroes, Zenith's family etc.

I recommend you purchase Books 1-4 of Mr Z. It was one of 2k's best sagas.

Well I liked it!

I agree Matt. I like S H so far.
I was just giving a reason why some people are comparing it to Zenith. 99% of 2k is superhero free!

Balls Brothers!!!!!!!
What a load of balls you could say.
