>why would bother when there's the speccy!

All those lovely colours, all that lovely music, just a shame the Speccy EMUs don't emulate the glorious rubber keyboard or its innate ability to hold a door open...

"that was happening all the time in the 70s but never does today, sadly."

Presumably cos most people these days know wet concrete is not a pleasnt thing to fall into, due to all the nasty chemical reactions.

I doubt there's much primetime family sitcom humour to be had from someone falling face first into wet cement and then running around bleeding from teh eye sockets, screaming, "MY EYES, THEY'RE ON FIRE! PLEASE GOD MAKE IT STOP! THE PAIN IS TOO MUCH, KILL ME NOW!".

Then again, I could be wrong...

Haven't seen it in Borders yet, but the big FP definitely had it when I was last in there, and so did Gosh.

Well it is made on Mars, for robots, after all.

Wonder if it tastes like the stuff Robocop eats...

>I'm slightly bemused by the binoculours in that photo ...

It's so the guy who's making it can keep an eye out to prevent it getting stollen, er, stolen.

(boom! tish!)

>Carpenter is the KING of the siege movie - see also ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13.

See also THE THING, essentially. Same set up, buncha folks trapped in an isolated location, getting picked off one by one, cept they're under siege from the inside!

It's weird - I was watching a lot of the clips again (not to mention Raiders if the Lost Ark), and while I wasn't scared by them this time round, I found em creepy because I was scared by them as a kid.

As Dudley says, the first one was CANDYMAN and the second was Burton's NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS.

NBC is an absolute classic, and Candyman was also pretty solid for a late addition to the 80s horror canon, mainly due to Tony Todd being an excellent bad guy and Virginia Madsen (I think) making a good lead.

The film actually did bother to create some sort of relationship between the leads and make Candyman an occasionally sympathetic character rather than just the customary unstoppable killing machine, so it deserves credit for that too.

Can't remember if the sequels were that good, but I don't think they were awful.
