I buy the 4th edition Talisman sets. They're in my loft, waiting for my boys to get old enough to play!

Prog / Re: Prog 1870 - On Target

I can't believe Alpha is dead for three reasons: (1) Why go to all the hassle of bringing him back, just to kill him again?; (2) It would surely be shown "on screen"; (3) The episode itself shows how he can get out of it (time bomb).

I have somehow managed to avoid achievement based gaming.

I have always considered finishing a game to mean getting to the end, not having it 100% complete.  There are plenty of games as well that I feel have blurred end goals if any end goal at all.

Achievements / trophies do nothing for me. I can see their appeal, I understand their meta-game nature, but they leave me cold. I play for fun, or to enjoy a story. Not to grind some arbitrary sub-goal that neither adds to the fun or the story.

I appreciate their is a degree of hypocrisy in that; all games are ultimately puzzles created by their designer and so contrain arbitrary goals.

Except for The Stanley Parable.

It may be prudent not to mention you asked for guidance from a forum of comic book nerds.

EVERYTHING IS AWESOME!

News / Re: New 2000AD Covers Blog

This week's cover is the best in a while for me.

A great piece of graphic art, and a true "cover image". It'd make me want to know what was inside.

I'm one of these three. You can work out which.

PAUL   SIGERSON           GLASGOW   SFS82      LAWMASTER MODEL

As in the creator of Deadline's awful The Groovy Vicar strip? Ephemera like this surely proves the utility of both The Beast and its operator.

Nay, sir. It proves the requirement.

Plus, for the love of God, think of Paisley. It has enough dribbling psychos stalking its streets without adding another. And if he doesn't have this thread, then what does Buttonman have?

We owe it to the community at large to keep this going.

If you check that wiki all of their characters are parodies

Now, y'see, that's a good 'un. Just a couple of quick points:

(a) to be a parody, you have to do more than just say "It's a parody."
(b) the whole parody thing doesn't apply everywhere. It's mostly in the USA (which is obviously the Only Place That Counts) with some variations elsewhere.

Helpful fact: The parody exceptions regarding copyright derive from the US Constitutional Right to free speech. The UK has no such right.

As ever, I'm just saying.

Crikey! We don't want any old riff-raff turning up. Cosh's Mum has some standards.

You weren't there to meet her.

We chose that date after posting two dates on our Facebook page. Quite quickly the 22nd date was dropped, after a couple of people couldn't make that date. Once we confirmed the 29th we posted an event on facebook and started the thread on here!

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

It's not the organising bit that is fun, it's the attending.

Dunno what's up with your site, but it kills Firefox if you hit "play" on that.

Auctioneers or The Variety (what with these being the only two places we have ever successfully met)

Wendy, I'd say there is a fairly keen market on the banned progs; I'd be interested myself only I got them and 1208 by blind luck on Gumtree last year. You'll get plenty of enquiries I assure you. I'd need to get off this thread or Ghost MacRoth will be after me with the claidheamh mor!  :-[ Z

I'd a mint Ant Wars duplicate on eBay for three or four listings and then gave up. YMMV.

I found it stuck loosely to a microscope at an auction in Belfast. Recognised it straight away, and knew someone would need it.

So, basically, you nicked it?
