In the words of Mr Pineapples: B&K.G.

But I cannot follow ABC warriors. Maybe it'll read better in one sitting, but then again shouldn't a weekly strip make sense in 6 page chunks. To be honest, I am on the verge of giving up on this as it is too inchorent for me.

I am off at 12 today. Flying to Heathrow, lunch in Eton, boat to Windsor Races, corporate hospitality, more drinks, day off tomorrow. All paid for by my work.

Tough gig, this "client care", but someone's gotta do it.

Just thought I'd share that with you.

Help! / Re: thorny issues of copyright.......

Quite simply, what would normally happen is that a list of all the characters being acquired would be attached to the purchase agreement in a schedule along with all the other intellectual property being acquired (logos etc).

Assuming that was the case, then I'd expect any characters omitted from the list to be the property of the seller (Fleetway?).

It may be that some were omitted because Fleetway couldn't show it had title to them, and so couldn't sell them. Others may have been exlcuded from the deal because Fleetway wanted to sell them separately (eg Dan Dare) or just becuase someone somewhere forgot!

There was a way to get into Witch Space in Elite on the Spectrum and C64, I remember doing it.

I finished JSW on the spectrum, but had to cheat to do it. The idea of the game was that Maria your housekeeper wouldn't let you go to bed after big party until all the glasses lying about the house were collected. The bug in the game that stopped you finishing it was that one glass couldn't be reached by conventional means.

However, if you typed "writetyper" at the menu screen, you could then jump to a random point in a random room. Eventually, after hours of trying, I got the elusive last glass. Miner Willy (an unfortunate name) then ran into his bedroom, where there was a toilet, and stuck his head down the pan.

I love this thread. It reminds me of going into Boots or John Menzies and typing:

10 PRINT "Loading: Elite II"
20 POKE USR 1234

Than made it look as if a game was loading, and them loads of folk would queue up and wait. Heh.

One other BS item: I once convinved a (not too clever) girl the cress in her Egg Mayo sarnies was, in fact, the ground up fingers of third world infants. She complained her egg was crunchy, and I explained that poor farmers in Africa often chopped off one or two of their babies' fingers (as they didn't really need them) and these were ground into a powder that was used to preserve cooked eggs. The poor girl spat out the sarnie and left the rest.

Narccisitic, cowardly, rock-star superhero hides while other heroes save the multiverse.

Golden hearted pirate dandy with a wit as sharp as his sword.

A camp vamp.

Rather than start a thread, this looks like a good place for a question about this week's Dredd.

Is "Alien Jerry" of the Wheeler gang the same alien/person that had his human brain implanted into an alien body in an early 80s Summer Special? They look the same, and - although I have to confess I didn't try to find the special - I think they look the same too.

The revenge thing puzzled me - I have never read the comics or any fiction.

The only reference in the films that I can think of is in Ep 1, when Darth Maul says:

"At last we will reveal ourselves to the Jedi. At last we will have our revenge."

FOR WHAT, MAN?

Dilbert desk calendar
3 plastic daleks
A 5 euro note
A bottle of "quink" with accompanying Cartier (ooer) fountain pen
My notary seal
A mousemat containing water and moving goldfish
Absolute shedloads of paper - three square feet of the stuff, one to three inches high.

I have a big desk - about seven feet long. Maybe it compensates for a lack of personality.

At last, a quick, efficient and indisputable method for resolving the question:

Would X win a fight vs Y ?

Dredd v Alpha - Dredd thrashes the gomy-eyed mutant.

King Trout v Dr X - I win by more than 11,000,000 points (natch).

Go on - solve those questions now.

Why do Marxists only drink fruit teas?

'Cos proper tea is theft!

Good work, BTW
