General / Where Homer meets Dredd
02 July, 2004, 03:32:29 PM
I watched one of my fave Simpsons episodes last night.

Now, Dredd may believe that "Justice has a price" but what of Homer J Simpson? Could he share Dredd's facist views? It seems yes - at least when Bart is caught shoplifting:

"My God, why? We live in a society of laws! Haven't I taught you anything? Why do you think I took you to see those Police Acadamy movies? For FUN? Well, I didn't see anyone laughing - did you?"

Best. Quote. Ever.

If characters were currency, how much would they be worth and what would they be - coins or notes?

I'd say a Dredd would be a big blue note, maybe A5 in size. It'd be worth one and a half Alphas, which would be yellow notes.

A Soul Sister would be a plastic button with the holes snapped off.

What decision?

The one where the referee gave a freekick after one team's defender barged in to the keeper, obstructing him from reaching the ball, while allowing another player entirely to hit the ball?

The decision implementing the rule that such activity is contrary to the rules?

The decision that was a no-brainer given that the player hitting the keeper never even touched the ball?

The decision that went the only way it could, and should have?

The decision made not on the basis of whehter there was any intent (as no booking took place) but, rather, made on the basis that what happened might have been an accident but was still an infringement of the rules?

The decision that would have been correct in any other game or if given against any team other than England?

Or some other that I never saw?

I am Scottish and Glaswegian. I live and work in Glasgow.

The same goes for my parents, my wife and her parents.

Not that Scotland is insular, or anything. It's just that strangers, new things and London bother me.

Honest, I didn't go off to an anagram site when someone told me that. Even after they said it was "a lot". Not me, I'm not that gullible.

I bought Amazon's last one yesterday. It better be good, as it joins my wide ranging collection:

All 2K, All Megazines
Preacher GNs
Camelot 3000 GN
Watchmen GN
Thrud the Barbarian GN
Nowt else

I just don't buy a lot of comics other than 2K. This will be my first non 2K purchase this century!

I am playing Red Dead Revolver, and think it's fab.

Reminds me very much of old arcade games, in that you make your linear way through a level fighting a horde of baddies before squaring off against an end of level baddie. But this simplicity is A Good Thing.

Unlike having your doggie shot at the start of the game - a Bad Thing.
