Help! / Re: London Film and comic con........
16 June, 2005, 09:42:08 PM
Thanks to everyone who's posted on this thread offering help - I really appreciate it guys (as will Paul and Mike too, I'm sure!). Anyone who can spare us whatever time they can afford will be doing us a massive favour that will not be quickly forgotten.

And Max, stop slgging off lms - you try editing a book on your Jacks before you can say owt, you cheeky scamp.
(And anyway, shouldn't you be making me my new icon anyway, rather than winding people up?)

Hozabout this - being as it's two days, and as long as I hear back from this organiser chap and my work doesn't suddenly renege on my last minute leave, I'll contact everyone who expressed an interest in helping out for a day on this thread, and as long as everyone's agreeable, we can share out the help between FQ, SW and TEiN. Does that sound alright?

As way of recompense for people's much appreciated help I was going to offer free entry (even if I have to pay it myself, goddamnit!), plus a free comp to Future Quake issues and possibly a mini-raffle involving a page of 2000AD artwork or something, but if people need more persuasion let me know and I'll try and think of something more enticing.

General / Re: Usage of the board
15 June, 2005, 05:01:01 AM
Personally I think the board's setup so that people can use it however they want, and I don't think people should take offence if others aren't into using it in the same way. Those who want to idle away their working hours talking rubbish can, just like those who would rather cut out some of the less-relevant threads and people can too, without either being inconvenienced.

I would highly recommend the 2000AD Review board for those annoyed with a high proportion of off-topic posts, however.

Actually you said "Yeowell's just so much better than real life", suggesting that meeting Mr. Yeowell in the flesh was something of a dissapointment for you (which is a bit unfair considering that he drew a sketch of you).

Why you slagging off Yeowell for now?

Better that they go to a good home with someone who'll get some pleasure reading them than mouldering at the bottom of some cardboard box or in a skip or something.

By the way, if anyone wants to grab these, first person to sendmail me can have 'em, otherwise I'm afraid they getting chucked this weekend.

Yup, North London born and bred (well, actually I was born round the corner from the British Museum, but that's really neither here nor there).

Actually I've got the other issues as well (I found them in my bag when I unpacked - sorry!)

If people want individual issues, post on this thread.

I've got about a years worth of progs - #'s 1322-1370 - to give away to whoever wants them (or else they're going in the bin or nearest recycling recepticle).

First person to register their interest on this thread can have them (or else divide them up amongst yourselves, if you want).

Alan Craddock colours though, which really let the side down.

Won't be a problem on the new Smith/Marshal story though, since that has lovely Chris Blythe colour work on it.

"How much money does Bob Geldof actually have? Surely Boomtown Rats royalties aren't keeping him in hair gel?"

His parents were actually quite well off - he was public school educated, he used to own the television production company Chrysalis (creator of The Big Breakfast) which he sold for an exorbitant amount of money, and currently owns another television production company, working for channel 4 and the BBC.

I don't know, I've blocked you and consequently can't read your post.

Seriously though, I can't say I'm really mortally offended - if someone else wants to block out my inane babblin' bullshit, imagine how I feel!

Just because I chastised him for being unaware of the upcoming plot of Shakara II...

If people were being blocked because of pimping then half this board would dissapear overnight.

"Don't be hurt Byron, I do recall killfiling you for a couple of days because you briefly got into a habit of replying with a one liner to every single post (and that one liner often contained some small press pimping). But I knew you are normally sane and rational so checked after a couple of days that you'd calmed down and you had so I unkillfiled you."

You poor fool - didn't you learn your lesson yet? I can't believe you actually rescinded your ban!

In all honesty, I don't know whether to be hurt or annoyed by that, so I guess I'll do neither and just be indifferent as always.
