Film & TV / Re: Comic Book Film Adaptations......

"First published in Pacific Comics in 1982"

Yeah, but Pacific was a joke and went bust by '84 or so, and Eclipse didn't last much longer, hoovering up pre-existing characters like Marvelman/Miracleman and Twisted Tales, or nicking ones that had gone out of copyright, such as Airboy and The Heap, which were then all bought up and ruined by Todd-Bloody-McFarlane during the bankruptcy sale.

At least the Dark Horse stuff was consistantly published and collected (in comparison, anyway!)

No, he promised ME, damn you Brunt!

Good book, by the way - I only managed to get a brief look at the launch on Saturday (not that I'm bragging AT ALL), but it does look great. and the good thing is, if I get a copy, I can claim it back against tax - YAY!

Thanks a lot Button, you utter BASTARD!! Thanks to you, I wasted my entire evening yesterday reading through that site!

I think my favourite line had to come from that comic book scam, in which the guy had to copy pages from The Beano (horrendously, I might add), and which resulted in this little gem:

"The truth is the word UNRELIABLE as you used in your mail is still stinging my heart like a rampaging scorpion."

Come to think of it, I don't reckon that a blue-skinned, test tube-born, genetic disco warrior with no nads would actually work in real life.

Wasn't that originally the cover to Neo, or one of those similar Manga mags? Funnily enough, I just saw that issue in Orbital on Charing Cross Road last week.

I'm going to the launch of the Great British Comics book at the ICA today, meaning that I get to leave work early, which can never be a bad thing.

Trap Door also had a certain disquieting power, but it was also strangely enthralling. I think that had a lot to do with Willy Russell and the catchy title jingle.
