not that Glenn or Kev are exactly new - but again it would get people talking

Sorry PVS  for interrupting the good work you and the rest have put in so far to the new classic character

Here's my suggestion for the whole character - some sort of black cool looking mess, that shows up, kicks butt, doesn't say anything at all, and buggers off each week. Give it a cool sounding name such as "     "
Suggestions for story could be:
Week 1:- Part 1
Week 2:- Part 1 told from a witnesses perspective
Week 3:- Part 1 reprise
Week 4:- The best of Part 1
Week 5:- Classic Part 1
Week 6:- The Ultimate Part 1
Week 7:- in a totally separate story introduce another character that gets people guessing what or who it is! Meanwhile in "    " Part 1 reminder which hints at something new for "Part 2!"
Week 8:- The Long Promised Part 2 - but of the three pages of story use 21/2 pages as recap from last week. At the end of the episode hint that the "     " is going to say something
Weeks 9-15 repeat as for part 1
Should get people talking about the character each week - I bet it would work!!!!! Oh and get some fairly decent newish artist to draw it - my vote is for Glenn Fabry or Kev Walker.

Can't remember - honestly what I've questioned him about this time - I think it is probably something to do with I want a long Dredd epic - and or a Death story - one of my current rants. If so it was sent before prog 2002 by e-mail and gives "Tharg" another chance to plug the new Death story and perhaps to hint at whatever the next Dredd "epic" happens to be.
If its a rant it is that Helter Skelter was over too quick - but I get confused now about what I have posted here and the only one I have sent direct to 2k.
You never know - they may be going to reveal who Shakara really is and perhaps I guessed it right first!
I'm quite impressed - I've only ever written twice - both have got in! Perhaps I should try my hand at writing a screenplay/script and see if I can get that in too... now that would make Scojo jealous!

Anyway I wasn't expecting to take Tharg's postcards, and I didn't steal them...

Honest...

He gave them to me

It was in issue 661. The Chopper story was Song of the Surfer which ran 654-665. The panel I wrote about must be in 654.

No, it was a very sad letter pointing out an error in the opening panel in the Chopper story that followed the JD Supersurf epic. The particular picture showed Ayers Rock undamaged yet only a few months before we had seen it getting blown apart when Judge Dredd sent a Nuclear Bomb through a portal to destroy the Judda's lair.
Can't remember what Tharg's get out at the time was and all my progs of more than three years ago are still in storage at my parents house as I don't have space for them under my rock.
I did get a nice binder at the time though.

The cover of the issue in question showed the Dead Man looking at the reader with his scarred face, wearing his low brim hat and cool coat, holding up the twisted remains of his Judge Dredd Badge. One very cool cover!

Prog / Prog 1276 - no major spoilers promise

Just got home from work and there on my mat was a letter from Rebellion. Wondering what was going on - had I been drafted into the academy of Law, I quickly opened the leter containment device to discover a nice shiny complete pack of those postcards I criticised for being overpriced.
Accompanied by a letter personally signed by Tharg - apparently my letter has been printed (Yay!) I don't know when it will see print I'm guessing in the next issue.
I can't remember what I said or even if I signed it Newt or my real name.
However I have such an exciting life I am now very excited.
I have not had a letter printed in 2k since the issue revealing the Dead Man was Dredd on the cover.
What will Tharg say to my incessant ramblings?

Anyway the postcards are now good value for money - FREE!

Even better than that I have Tharg's autograph!!!!!

Prog / Re: Shakara - Worst episode ever.....
24 January, 2002, 07:17:06 AM
Shakara backlash starts here - The story is interesting... honest. It has certainly given us on the board a lot to talk about. Some of us love it others don't. Bored already after just a few episodes?
No wonder 2k doesn't seem to have the nerve to run long epic stories for any character any more and not just Dredd. Epics of 25 episodes+ where there is the room for the writer to develop story lines like Strontium Dogs Bitch, Portrait of a Mutant, Rage etc, Dredd's Apocalypse War, Necropolis/Dead Man saga, Supersurf etc
At the moment the character does seem very one dimensional, but I think its the anticipation... the suggestion that there is a lot more to this character that makes it interesting. And in a run of issues where I have felt "seen that, read it before" to many stories in 2k (See this issues Dredd, and Future Shock) I don't recall a story like this - though my memory circuits may have been frazzled.
Give Shakara a chance - or as I still believe.. Give Mek Quake a chance. Characterisation will come I'm sure when given the time to develop. I do seem to recall that when Nikolai Dante first appeared it also polarised peoples opinions and the supporters were in the minority. Now it seems to have a very large following.
It certainly isn't a bad story or series... just think we coud have had another "Killer" (Eeek!)
Just remember Nemesis only said one word for his first episodes and didn't even appear in his own story at first and was very confucing to start with but then went on to being one of the all time greats.
Basically give it time. Don't rush to judge. I for one find it interesting.

There, that was a long winded way of saying I quite like it.

Hi,
So what happened?
You see most of us here agree we don't have a life to come here often... So before you get dragged in to this board for more time than is good for you what is the world like out there?

Long time since I read Finn - doesn't Finn kill Newts?
Or did he protect them?

I'm going to stay hidden under my rock till I know
