Prog / Re: PROG 1505 - Origins - Dredd Ri...

My only Problem was Dante as I don't have clue what's realy going on.

you know, that's my problem too, and i'm glad i'm not the only one... i can see that it looks lovely but it doesn't engage me on any level whatsoever. i've been back with the prog for over 3 years now and the 'krakken' thing just made me think "and..?"

dredd was excellent although (minor gripe, please forgive me) we could have had a few more pages as it's such a momentous occasion.

i seem to remember that from the other night - though of course i was very drunk - so many happy returns

p.s. i appear to be the worst drinker i know, and the more people i meet, the lower down the drinking list i go. this bothers me.

Books & Comics / Re: Gutsville!

Has he got a good voice?

i'm not sure, although i'm more worried about it being songs based on each issue of Gutsville in an "Every Dream Will Do" style. No wonder Spurrier isn't attending ;)

late as ever to the thread-party, but i've just picked up a copy of Gutsville #1 this morning, and it didn't disappoint

interesting concept, typical spurrier-like storytelling (which may or may not be to everyone's liking, but is to mine) and it looks very very beautiful.

i've not bought an "american" format comic for years (well, apart from the McCarthy Solo) and was pleasantly surprised to find it only cost 5p more than my weekly dose of thrill power.

not sure if i'll be waiting for the trade or getting the rest (spurrier, what would you recommend ;) but in any case it's something i want to see through to the end...

btw, apparently frazer will be singing stuff at Travelling Man York at 3pm Saturday if anyone's interested

Nigel

strange you should appear on the board right now - myself, LMS and Al Ewing were only the other night wondering (as only 2thou geeks can) what ever happened to you, and bemoaning the fact that you appeared to be dealt a shitty script card in your previous 2thou work.

when u comin back?

The New Adventures of Hitler is in Crisis 46?49, not those earlier issues.

Help! / Re: Crisis price

The New Statesmen was the reason i bought it in the first place and, although as Quirkafleeg rightly points out it can be incomprehensible, it's well worth investing the time in reading it in one go

oh, and "The further adventures of Adolf Hitler" is an absolute gem that begs to be collected at some point

in summary... buy them ;)

Off Topic / techy .NET help required
17 July, 2006, 07:52:21 PM
i know this isn't really the place, but i know there's a couple of 'hardcore' developers here (i'm looking at you mssrs Wyatt and Wilkinson) that may be able to give me some advice

i'm looking for some software to pull together a number of PDF files and produce a single file with new bookmarks, indexes, etc.

i especially need to do this via .NET rather than from a stand-alone app

all help muchly appreciated (and once i purchase said software i'm sure a certain mr molcher will be more than keen to make use of it for EiN)

cheers

i try my best to ignore the passage of time when i can, but it's unavoidable when you've got kids and their birthdays seem to come around every 4 months or so

also, me and mrs thinky were trying to work out how long we'd been together and finally realised that we'd missed our 10year anniversary. she didn't believe me until i reminded her that we'd been together over a year when Euro '96 was on

i had a drink with LMS and Al Ewing the other night and the question "which was your first prog" was uttered. I answered that prog 1 was the first for me. their reply? "wasn't even born then..."

that hurts

i hand my notice in tomorrow to go contracting again, with my short-lived attempts at working for other people being files under "go fuck yourself"

the worst thing is having to stay there for 4weeks and be glared at for not being flexible enough to do an extra 8 hours a week unpaid
