Let me second that recommendation. The books got everything you'd ever need to know about the making of the movie and all the various versions that are in existence.
Also to be recommended, for all lovers of Philip K. Is "Counterfeit Worlds-Philip K. Dick On Film", which lists the many film adaptations of his work and many that have yet to make it to the screen.

I thought it had been fairly well received in the press. Compared to The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen it was a masterpiece. It certainly pushed enough of the right buttons for me. For a mainstream Hollywood picture it was pretty incendiary stuff(no pun intended).

Mine's on order, very much looking forward to reading it.

Maybe I should dig out the old back Progs and give it a reappraisal-it's been an age since I last read it.

I like Ennis' stuff generally, so I'll be giving this a go, even though I never really got into the 2000ad incarnation and I'm ambivalent towards the character.

And just to think, not so long ago we had to put 10p in a phone box, if we wanted to talk to another human being.
£500 for a glorified mobile? As Eddie Murphy was fond of saying, "Gedda fuck outta here"!

Chart music is solely responsible for the decline of civilization in my opinion.
To listen to it is to reject human evolution.

Just my view.

Help! / Re: Garth Ennis Dredd

Yeah I really enjoyed Monkey On My Back too. I wouldn't mind seeing him work in 2000ad or The Meg again. He's worked wonders on the Marvel Max Punisher series. I wonder if he's got anything else left to say with Dredd as a character.

I dunno. I think he had a fair stab at Dredd. I enjoyed quite a few of Ennis' Dredd strips( Death Aid and Emerald Isle, to name but two) and who else was going to replace Wagner after he left 2000ad? The editors had to choose someone.
Still, maybe it's that old debate again we should leave well alone.

It's a tough call, but I'd have to go Judgement Day. It's not a "BAD GUYS GREATEST HITS" like Helter Skelter and it's got that classic final panel. Still, if they're going cheap, get them both.
