Help! / Frazer, Fear mugshot
20 July, 2004, 07:30:55 AM
Could someone please post me a printable portrait imagage (roughly actual size) of the Judge Fear illustration, as seen on the new mug- as i want to use it as a basis for a tattoo. Prusuming this doesn't breach any copyright laws.
Cheers,

     Dweezil.

That quote(or one like it) appeared in Full Metal Jacket (1987), uttered by the drill instructer.
Interesting to note how possibly the last taboo swear word is loosing its power to shock, and is even working it's way into the comic book medium.
I recall an interview with uber swearer Garth Ennis, stating that he still was restricted from using the word c**t, in his Preacher title. But his recent Punisher run has been litterd with c**ts- in a mannerof speaking.

It's gratifying to hear from 2000ad fans from across the pond. It shows an admirable level of determination and commitment to the cause of thrill power, as it must be dificult to maintain a consistent run of issues. Hats of to your local comic shop also, for trying to track issues down.
With the DC deal in the can, you guys are are gonna wake up, to what long time readers have known all along- that 2000ad consistently produces some of the most brilliant strips in the world! Spread the word silvashadow, 2000ad's coming to town, and you're all invited to the party!

I'M a big fan of Cronenberg- so hopes are high, for this adaptation. But i must confess i havn't read it. So a few questions: what's it about? Is it any good? And, is it still in print?

I take it that you've never read Mad then. I think you'll find it's far from 'grey and dreary.'

Personally i still think there is space in 2000ad for blatant satire. I'm aware Dredd features it's fair share of barbed digs at moden society, and institutions- but i still wouldn't mind the odd strip that was created solely to stir up a bit of poltical debate. It's a shame that few comic publications exploit the wealth of potential to be mined from satirising the current political climate. It's left to Private eye, Viz, and the few American publications brave enough: Mad magazine, and the odd title from Marvel and DC, and a fe of the indies.
I might be in the minority-but i enjoyed Big Dave, Blair 1, and wouldn't mind a few more aimed at their level. What's everyone else think

Wasn't having a go at you, Lord Snooty. I was responding to Ryankango's criticism of Colin Macneil's work in the prog, wrongly posted on this thread. Havn't got the Meg yet-though i must say, i've also been disappointed with the computer aided work on Ridgeway's art-especially as his work is of such a high quality normally.

Currently on tonsil duty, in a band called KANO(suppose i could have posted this on the 2000ad related band, thread)We're looking for another guitarist at the mo', so if anyone's interested, and lives close to the Ashford Kent) area, give us a shout! Oh, and we like our music with plenty of chug, with a hint of grunge.

Met Tim Burton in an art gallery once- he was very polite, and gave me his autograph. Sat near Tom Baker on the train, years back. Served Vic Reeves in a shop i was working in once.
