Film & TV / unexpected treats
19 March, 2008, 09:14:15 PM
This is the thread for movies which were far better than you'd expected. You started watching thinking 'this will pass the time' but were pleasantly suprised.

my only entry for it is 'Running out of Luck', an 80s promotional thing Mick Jagger made for his first solo album. It's bags of fun; features Rae Dawn Chong, Dennis Hopper, an engagingly silly story and Rae Dawn Chong's nipples.

well?

Hi Bailey Brothaz, welcome to the board. How did you find it? are you into 2000ad?

There's a Dredd story about a vampiric mummy type thing, which attacks Dredd with predicatable results in a future Mummy-fixated Egypt. Anyway, it doesn't matter how many vampires in Egypt stories there are - always room for another good one. I look forward to reading your comic

cheers,

Floyd

Suggestions / Re: Special Covers for Subscribers...
19 March, 2008, 12:28:29 PM
it's a cute idea but would hurt completist subseribers, who would feel compelled to go and buy the non-subscriber copies, as well as completist non-subscribers

I like the idea of progs that don't have that stupid double logo, or all that clutter that's all over the Megazine covers these days. Mind you, if that meant I could see more of that awful John McCrea cover to the last Meg....

Prog / Re: Prog 1578 : BIOHAZARD............
19 March, 2008, 09:01:08 PM
cover: snore
Dredd: I like the art, like the country cousins. I hope Mayor Ambrose doesn't murder any of them
Dead Eyes: promising, but I don't know how it'll turn out. It is after all John Smith
ten Seconders: I miss the old art, but I'm happy to have this back - I keep rereading the last lot and wondering what happened next. It's not completely satisfying, since it harks back to so many other 'what if super powers were real' stories, but I still want to know
Dante: All is good = fun characters, good art. It's nice the way it keeps going onto the back cover

Subscriptions: I would have enjoyed this prog so much more if Prog 1577 had shown up at my house! Get it together please!  I'm not impressed by this, do any other subscribers have this problem?

it's a question that had to be asked!

ummm, depends on your age, I guess. In my younger boozier days, friday was the good one - work as over, no reason to go to bed early the next day

Now it's sunday because I get maximal time to play with my son

Hou, you're right, Psychlocke seems like a nice person. I don't care that her brother is Capt Britain, although you've got to meet the family eventually, but she has a good taste in skimpy clothing

....as do most of them....don't practically all superheroines have big gravity-defying knockers?

I wind up with Aurora (who I've never heard of), but was hoping for Catwoman. My second and third options were the Scarlet Witch, who I've never really seen as sexy; she's too maternal. and Psychlope or something.

yours resisting the temptation to go back and try again

I liked the story too, but killing off Death is a bit like killing off the Daleks - you know he'll be back

She didn't, but while we're on the topic, I thought she'd escaped to Oz, then appeared snarling at Dredd from a cell somewhere. Did I forget the story in which she was captured?
