Down to Earth is brilliant, the best of all the audio dramas. Last time I looked, you could listen to it on the BBC cult website

I just heard it today. It`s good stuff, uses the two characters very well. Dredd does some quick thinking and slightly funny talking with the robotish sino cit character. I too liked the paradox stuff.
I still think `Down to Earth` the first Strontium Dog CD is the best  so far.

greetings scurvy
your icon both rocks and rules! Welcome to the board.
I too live in the 80s musically. How long have you been reading 2000 AD? Which characters do you like the best?

there you are, I never got to read her Guardian column. Just the occasional book review. In fact, I started buying the Spectator because she was in it.
As for David Bowie...nobody has mentioned The Man Who Fell To Earth, which was pretty good as I remember it.

yours hoping they don`t burn Spectator readers around these parts

I`m an ex-Burchill fan. Do I still have to burn? She`s been crap for a long time now. Anyway, as a non-English person, I`m protected from her worst excesses by distance.

I loved the first changes album (I think, his first `best hits` album). Scary Monsters was terrific as was `Heroes` (although, am I the only person who found the title track pretty boring?)
Julie Burchill described his credibility pretty well in an essay called `better cred than dead` (available in the collection `love it or shove it`). In it, she explains various rules of credibility for singers, one of which is that once you lose your cred you never get it back. The exception to this is David Bowie, who is always cool.
I think that`s pretty true. `Let`s Dance` was bloody awful but he came back

football commentators over here say some fun stuff...in fact Roy and HG built a career on sounding like the real footy people.  I can only remember:

"I'd better not say anything unless I say something"

a long time ago some guy in Lebanon was standing amid rubble covering a war involving the Lesbian army. He went on talking about lesbian forces etc for about four minutes before disapearing from the screen to reemerge and tell us about the lebanese army.
It was interesting while it lasted

I don`t think so. I think it was probably a vaguely sci-fi reference

the bath-house pitchfest at Warabi con was very good this year. Roy pitched the following stories;
- purple meanies
- Popcorn Man
- Underpants Man
- evil underpants Man
- `sorry what did you say?` man
and several other super-hero ideas.

actually I could have a con here. It would be an Alan Moore/2000 AD con, since I`m me and my mate is an Alan Moore fiend who loaned me From Hell

Arnie would be alright. His stance on nazism would change if he got into a presidential election. And he`d be perfect if the country was attacked by Predator.
 anyway, the amendment makes sense
